Le Gaglio - Brasserie Nice — Restaurant in Nice

My friends and I went for breakfast before catching our flight back home. At first they told us that breakfast was not available anymore since it was almost 12am. When we wanted to get up and leave the waitress kindly offered to ask the chef if breakfast was still being served. After a few minutes she came back and agreed to serve us breakfast which we thankfully accepted. Later on we wished we hadn’t. The Breakfast menu we ordered was missing a few items which was not great but so far it wasn’t a tragedy. The dirt along with the pebble we found in my friend’s salad was, though. When we asked for the bill we shared our discovery with the waitress to which she simply said ,,sorry“ with an indifferent expression on her face. After a few minutes she came back with a few slices of (not very pleasant looking) cake. I think there’s no need to say that we didn’t eat it. I absolutely understand that it is not the waitresses fault but we were very upset about the way that she handled the situation. We expected to get a discount or some form of refund. Instead we got more food which was the last thing we were craving after finding mud in the food we already had ordered. Afterwards my friend had diarrhoea. I normally don’t write reviews but I can’t help but share my horrible experience with this restaurant.

My friend ordered a beef steak with fries and I ordered a viel liver dish . My dish was ok but the steak my friend ordered smelled direct from a trash along with soggy French fries .I mean literally the the steak smelled of trash which is at least 2-3 days old . I could not believe that you pay so much and someone can spoil your experience with such a joke . I tasted the meat and it was with the horrible smell. I am not sure how they managed to spoil our evening with this trick. We complained and got another steak but our evening was already spoiled . I am not sure which frustrated employees brunt we had to bear. But for sure this restaurant is not well managed and have overworked and underpaid staff with some ignorant owners leading them all . Be bewared of the food .

Note : we were polite all throughout and just placed our oder normally . I just cant turn my head around on why the staff would do something like this . I would have understood if they had apologized or explained to me the mistake but they were defensive all throughout and we ended up paying the full bill. I hope we don’t get...

• update: we returned the following evening for dinner, made a reservation for 6:00 p.m.. got there, they didn't have any idea that we had made a reservation even though we did it online. The waiter would not seat us at a table for four to give us a little more space. Then we were sitting for 10 minutes without service (it wasn't busy). We were wedged into a small table between two smoking tables, and we are non-smokers. We got up and left after being ignored, went to another restaurant called the Le Rosetti and had a far better dinner with fabulous service. I've removed three stars for the horrible experience on our 2nd visit. Service was great yesterday, but not today.*

My wife and I were exploring Old Nice when we stumbled across Le Gaglio. It was very busy and we loved the energy of the restaurant, so we took a table outside for lunch.

Our meal and the service were phenomenal. Presentation was excellent and the food was very tasty.

We plan on going back tomorrow evening for dinner as we liked the choices on the menu.
