Topaze Bar Nice — Restaurant in Nice

The placed looked nice, and has some good seating facing the water upstairs. We ordered some food and hot drinks. Being a vegetarian, I asked for fries. I was really disappointed when I bit into a piece of chicken within a portion of potato fries - I told the server serving the upstairs area straightway that I’m a vegetarian and found it strange to find chicken in my fries. He did not apologise, asked if I wanted to replace and I said no - so he took it away, and left it on the next table - he didn’t even bother to let the kitchen staff know. Being a vegetarian, it didn’t feel great and I was surprised the staff didn’t care to apologise. While leaving, I went to the counter to pay - and the same server also included fries in the bill - to which I protested. Again no apology - I spoke to the manager and explained - she then apologised and made sure I don’t pay for the fries. The server just stood by, again no apologies made.

Avoid this Bar/restaurant at all costs. We came to this restaurant in a group of 7 persons. The food was mediocre at best, but what really ruined our dinner was the customer service at this restaurant.

The waiter was incredibly incompetent. Taking orders of 7 people without writing down or taking notes, but instead trying to remember everything from memory. Who would have guessed that this is a bad idea, because after 5minutes he came back asking for our orders again. To our suprise he hasn’t learned anything but instead walked away without noting anything again. This caused a complete mess and multiple dishes were brought to the table that we didn’t even order but were asked to pay for. I like the place even though it is expensive, it is on the promenade. So beautiful views of the sea, as well as the Castle (where there is no Castle). French fries were soggy, and dark brown, and the burger was just ok. My issue is with the waiter, Not a minute for anyone but himself. I agree with the sentiment that if you hate your job so much and the clientele, get another job or at least be friendly with your clientele.
