Where do I begin? Walking into this place was like stepping straight into a boys' high school locker room — the fragrance of stale sweat hits you like a saxophone note gone terribly wrong. I thought it was just near the door, but no, the entire establishment seems to be committed to that eau de gym class vibe.
Now, let’s talk about the seating situation. I’m convinced they ordered the chairs from a furniture supplier for a dollhouse. You’ll be questioning your life choices within five minutes and negotiating with your own backside by minute ten, as the seating is specifically engineered to give you hemorrhoids faster than a long-haul flight in economy.
The bar looks great, I’ll give them that. But that’s where the charm ends. The staff were rude and laughing while we ordered for no reason. When I asked for a cocktail, they served me what can only be described as "liquor soup with a twist of regret." The bartender’s approach to making a drink was terribly satisfactory with simple syrup being the main ingredient
In short, if you're looking for a night of discomfort, dehydration, and anal assault, this is your spot! If you value your spine, your sense of taste, or your ability to sit, maybe keep walking. The musicians are good but this venue needs some serious...
Read moreIf you're looking for a funky hidden gem of a literal underground Jazz club in Paris, this is it.
It looks like an unassuming enough place when you walk up, a big hotel-y building in Le Marais. But once you walk in, pay for the cover/drink voucher, and start walking down the stairs, the mood shifts and the magic starts. The walls narrow and turn to old stone bricks, the lights dim, the hallways turn, and soon enough you're facing a small stage with a curved ceiling. There's a reason they call it a cave.
It's super intimate and tight, but that's what's so special about it. The night I went was an open mic, so musicians took turns switching out spots and playing their hearts out. I was never a big jazz guy before this, but I am now absolutely hooked and sold. Every single performer was incredible and the energy was electric.
After I claimed my seat, I went to the bar room in the back to claim my drink. I went for a glass of wine which I can't complain about. There's another small room too for some extra seating. But why sit there when you can be a few feet from the performers.
It's a heck of an experience and I can't recommend this spot enough. It's a must do...
Read moreMixed experience. Very nice customer service at booking, convenient location, charming cave for jazz. We loved the concert we came to see …but, immediately following the show we went to grab a drink to end the night (there is a bar in the back). The bartender told us a jam session was starting in ten minutes so we had to buy additional 6eur tickets each to stay (already had paid 20+ each for the previous concert). I thought this was a bit strange, but we said ok, we would stay a half hour longer to finish our drinks and listen.
In reality, the “jam session” didn’t start for more than one hour later. Frankly, I felt cheated. We absolutely could have enjoyed our post concert drink calmly in the bar and left without being forced to buy tickets for a concert we didn’t intend to go to and did not stay for in the...
