If you want to stay somewhere where management lies, treats you like you are an idiot and doesn’t do a single thing to make sure your stay is going well, this is the place for you!
My partner and I had a shock when we discovered our room was raining from the inside of the ceiling. Both the bedroom and bathroom were leaking rapidly and woke us up at 5am. We notified the staff on duty that morning, which they came and checked to their shock and surprise too. They had the manager on a video call, showing them the leaks. As one of us can somewhat speak French, the manager at one stage thought it was “condensation”, what a joke! The staff member went upstairs and turned a tap off, which we could instantly hear running water stop. Apparently someone had left the shower running in the room above. Not sure if this is true or not, but nevertheless, it was leaking into our room below. After the call had ended, the staff member left us to it, saying we will have to wait for the cleaner to come later to clean it up. We were surprised by this and asked for some more towels so we could clean it up ourselves. We weren’t going to leave water flooding our floors for hours.
We were highly disappointed by the situation, and that we had to clean the mess up ourselves. We approached the manager and asked if we’d be compensated (as apparently there were no spare rooms), he said that he had messaged Booking.com at 7am that morning (a lie) and mentioned that they have reached out to me (a lie) to organise a 30% refund of our stay. He also said, since we booked via Booking.com, it makes everything harder to deal with etc. etc. excuses excuses, and that it would’ve been easier to deal with if we booked through them directly. If this is the case, maybe don’t list yourselves on third party sites?
Hopeful that we would get our refund, I contacted Booking.com customer service that night, asking about the situation with the refund. They said they were working with Hotel Rivoli to get a refund for us, then 3 days later, they messaged me again, saying they couldn’t get in touch with them regarding compensation. It wasn’t until just over a week later that I heard from Booking.com, they had tried to contact the Hotel again, but alas, no response! They mentioned that I can try to message the Hotel via Booking.com to get confirmation of a refund and then they would sort it from there. But as we can all guess, I am waiting for a response still…
What terrible, terrible customer service! I have never experienced anything like this from a hotel before. You should be taking pride in your jobs and looking after your customers, not lying to them and treating them like idiots!
I Do NOT recommend this...
Read moreFantastic location, only a 2 min walk to the nearest Metro, and plenty of bars and restaurants within a few steps of the hotel. The lady on reception (I think she was the owner) was very friendly and welcoming, and immediately resolved an issue I had regarding housekeeping. I was given a single room on the third floor which had a lovely street view along Rue de Rivoli, with Tour Saint-Jacques in the distance. Although the room was very basic (just a bed, a narrow cupboard/wardrobe, and a table and chair - no TV, or other amenities), it had everything I needed for a short break and the double bed was very comfortable. ||Only one negative - the daily housekeeping only consisted of the bed being made and emptying of the rubbish bin, they didn't change the bed sheets or the towels, or clean the bathroom, despite me being there for a three night stay. Each morning when I left my used towels on the bathroom floor to be replaced with fresh ones, they were just hung back up over the shower, still wet and dirty. On each occasion I had to ask the lady on reception if I could have replacements when I returned to the hotel in the evening. This was just a small issue though, it didn't really detract from the positives of this wonderful little hotel. I would definitely stay here again for a...
