Free entrance. Going inn went smooth and the people were very welcoming. Some content in English is damaged and can’t be read.
Do not go with children; The content is not very well structured to read. Toilets are not suited for smaller children. The employee working in the Expedition Permanent area on the 19th of July was very rude to my children. I even got the feeling that this was due to our native language (Dutch) witch can be recognized as German.
The employee removed the books my children were looking at out of their hands and placed it back on the shelf.
She did not want to explain why. She just said that we must look everywhere together with our children.
At the front desk her co-worker told us that is was a safe environment for children. Shocking pictures would be on a different floor.
The lady was very bossy and did not give a welcome feeling at all.
It is a shame because it is important that the newer generations learn from mistakes that have been made.
The behavior of this employee, the lack of well structured content to read and missing content that is understandable for children from 7 - 12 is the reason for this low score.
I will go again without children and will try the audio course because I do want to know If I can learn more about the 2nd World War then I...
Read moreTouching Experience: "Shoah" is Hebrew term for "destruction", and this museum is dedicated to the victims of such catastrophe.
I had been to the entrance of the museum 3 times and every time, I just could not make myself go inside it. I spent almost 3 hours inside the museum and afterwards I was drained emotionally, the whole place leaves you exhausted and the people who went through this, my heart went out to them.
Oh man, why you do this to your fellow beings! Take time to go through it, some of the videos are so moving, it is difficult to even see the entire piece. And then there is hope at the end of it all, hopeful recollection from the survivors, from the people who helped them. To go through this kind of experience and not have even an iota of bitterness towards others, only a GREAT human being can achieve this. Respect, I salute to the resilient human spirit. And do not miss "The Wall of the Righteous" outside the museum dedicated to the people who helped while risking their own lives. Great...
Read moreWe happened upon this place while walking around Paris on foot (I saw it on the map). It's a free Holocaust museum. The exterior is pretty interesting, with the star of David pattern. You have to go through mild security to enter, but I believe the whole museum is available free of charge. It's quite extensive inside. We didn't have a ton of time to spend, or we probably could have stayed longer. As it was, we were probably in there for a good two hours. There's tons of material inside, and all the written displays were in English as well as French. The video and audio presentations were only in French, as to be expected. I actually learned a lot about the impact of World War 2 in France. If you're happening by and have some time to read exhibits, I'd...
