Bocamexa was an unintended dining choice made after visiting a cafe up the road, we were hungry and decided to stop in.
To begin, I have visited most of the other "authentic" Mexican restaurants in Paris and as such have a pretty good baseline to set my expectations to. On offer from Bocamexa were four options, a quesadilla, bowl, burrito and tacos. My buddy chose the burrito and I went with the tacos.
For the tacos I had the Poulet Pibil, Chorizo and Beef as meat options along with the Roja salsa. In my opinion, the Pibil was lacking any real defined flavors, I can only assume that since this dish is usually done with pork, perhaps the annatto and chicken don't combine to offer more of a flavor profile. The chorizo seemed overcooked and most if not all the oil had been drained leaving you with crunchy bits. The beef was the best of the three but not by far, it was claimed to be barbecue flavor but didn't have any smoke flavor but was tender.
Overall, despite having food that wasn't great, the place was inviting and the staff helpful. Price for three tacos was 13 euros which I feel was acceptable considering...
Read moreFirst time dining in this place, which I think some people would describe as Tex-Mex food. I ordered tacos with a cold infusion of Jamaica. I liked the fact that you can choose three different types of "garnitures" (meat/veggie options) for each taco. My choice was super pollo, boeuf barbacoa and guacamole. These went very nicely with the pickle onions, coriander, feta cheese and lime. The sauce "verte" that I picked did not look that much appealing but it was very tasty. Overall, the food was okay. The price was alright for a restaurant located within a tourist area in Paris. I paid 15 euros in total. The only thing missing was the lack of dessert options (there were none). Perhaps there is some room for improvement to end the meal with a sweet bite. The staff members were kind and the place was colourful with nice Latin music playing in the background. One positive thing I learned from this chain restaurant was that they sponsor communal libraries for children living in...
Read moreThe food is good. They have a guy working the front with a bun who is the sweetest guy ever and extremely helpful. There is a lighter skinned guy with shorter hair and a thick beard who helped us and is on top of all the staff for them to charge for everything, you want pico de gallo? A side of sauce? Air? It'll be a Euro. Each. I came here not long ago and it was not like this. Either they need to train their staff better or they're ripping people off. The food was decent. The meat does have good flavor but everything else was bland and if you want extra sauce its extra. The two stars are honestly for the sweet man with the bun... but everything else is...
