I ordered steak and was served in a plate which was cracked from two places going deep into the plate (see picture attached). I pointed this out to a waiter who said it was normal to have cracks on a plate with steak because of people cutting the steak and causing cracks. I have had steaks many times before from other restaurants but was never served on a broken plate until now and if that's the case, the restaurant can easily replace the broken plate instead of continuing to use it. As we all know, cracks on plate are a breeding ground for bacteria. Not to mention they set the food on to plates by using hands with no gloves. As we were sat near their kitchen area, we witnessed them several times doing that. At one instance, the waiter cut and dumped bread on plates, few times the bread fell over and he just picked it up and put it right back on the plate along with wiping his hands with the back of his trousers and moving on to the next plate. Disgusting hygiene! Also, I asked for a medium cooked steak but it was so hard to cut into - they had overcooked it! Also, the place is narrow, like a corridor, and people are squashed against each other that it's suffocating. I wouldn't go there again.

REPLY to the owner's reply to my review: The plate is CLEARLY cracked in the photo and I pointed this out to the waiter who acknowledged that too and hence gave his reason. The owner's "blaming the customer" instead of taking their review on board and improve their standards is very unprofessional. We sat near the "food lift" which the owner is talking about which is near their reception area from where they were all bringing food to the customers. Their waiter was working on the shelf just outside their "food lift" preparing the basket of bread, cutting bread with no gloves, picking the dropped ones off the shelf and dumping them back in the basket and wiping his hands off the back of his trousers. All this happened outside the "food lift". The owner claims strict hygiene protocol which we CANNOT see as they are in the basement but what we saw near their "food lift" and the cracked plate was definitely unhygienic. I ate the food because firstly, the tight seating arrangement makes the neighboring customers mere inches away from you and even as I complained quietly to the waiter, I was embarrassed for the attention I received from the neighboring tables and not everyone is comfortable with such attention and although I was unhappy, I didn't want to create a scene out of politeness (but as an advice for customers: you should definitely complain upfront and refuse to eat that food so they don't use that against you afterwards). Regarding desserts, we had pre-ordered everything before we started eating and my reason for not cancelling that is the same as in the point above. The owner did not address the overcooked "medium" steak. We hope instead of blaming the customers, the owner improves...

Did not want to accommodate seating outside which is disappointing as it is halal. He didn't even want to ask the manager. Didn't make sense why they wouldn't seat us outside even though we told him that I wasn't able to eat inside due to covid. Such a shame.

Yes the person said that outside closes at 10pm but the explanation should be given in the first instance as to why customers can't be seated outside (if it's to do with permit restrictions etc). The person that we interacted with stated "that if the police come they would fine us". If we can see that there are other restaurants with outside seating with customers, naturally we are going to be confused.

If a potential customer is stating to you that they are unable to sit inside due to covid, please respect this and don't offer them to be seated inside.

No the person didn't speak to the manager. (This isn't a lie).

Unfortunately, I can't rate you for the food but only for how the interaction between your employee (customer service).

Hope the detailed review here clarifies what happened on the night of...

When searching for halal French cuisine Le Jumeyrah came up multiple times. Having visited two French establishments on my trip I would definitely recommend this one as the food definitely hit the spot with every dish being executed almost perfectly with the exception of the mashed potatoes which were just alright but not necessarily amazing. The duck which I had was perfectly cooked medium rare and accompanied by a robust soy glaze and sweet potato mash which made for an unexpected but brilliant combination. The service was also amazing with attentive waiters who made sure that our experience while at the restaurant was great. This place is a 10/10 and I would highly...
