Brasserie L'Apollinaire — Restaurant in Paris

I don't think this place has a yelp yet so I'm reviewing on here. Made a reservation and told them I was vegan. My fiance is not and we went here for our last dinner in Paris. The head vegan chef took care of us the whole time. He was extremely wonderful and accommodating. The food was absolutely delicious. And probably the most affordable meal we've had in Paris!

Make sure to ask for the separate vegan menu if that pertains to you. I had vegan quiche, zucchini stuffed with lentils and tomatoes, and a vegan hemp and date cake. Excellent service and such a warm welcome, which was a pleasant surprise for Paris. The two people who served us were both so friendly without being intrusive at all, and one of them took the effort to go through their menu and gave us recommendations.

We ordered escargot, risotto with scallops and prawns, and langoustine ravioli. I highly recommend the ravioli. There were 3 raviolis, each with a big, succulent piece of entire langoustine, served with an excellent sauce made from crustaceans (similar to sauce américaine). I mopped up every single drop of it with the bread provided.

I chose this restaurant due to all the good reviews but I was disappointed. The French onion soup was half full and the cheese was not melted and it’s not hot but it took a long to come so I don’t understand why it’s not hot and the cheese not melted. I thought maybe that’s how they do it in France, but I went to other restaurants after this visit and they all served hot and full bowls of soup with slightly burnt cheese on top, like a French onion...
