In summary: a unique côte de bœuf experience! We wanted to treat ourselves on the evening of the 24th December and passed in front of Delaville: the seating area looked lovely and the menu looked good. We were warmly welcomed. Something on the menu grabbed our attention: "côte de bœuf 1 kg with marrow bone to share". That sounded like a treat and we went for it, thinking "the bone will be 300g, that leaves us with two 350g pieces, which is more than enough". We asked for it rare, and took gratin dauphinois and green beans as the sides. We enjoyed some wine but after 30 minutes, we became a bit impatient: "we want it rare, surely, it's just pssssscht on one side pssssscht on the other?" We started making a bit of room on the table, thinking it won't be much longer. Indeed, the service eventually began, but they just brought another table next to ours, and we understood why it took 40 minutes to cook. I have never seen a côte de bœuf so large in my entire life! I swear the piece was more than 1 kg, and it was without bone! The gigantic bone came separately! After the initial shock, we ploughed in. The meat was marvelous, cooked to perfection. The gratin and beans were delicious too. It took some time but we eventually made our way through it. I have never eaten so much delicious quality meat in one sitting in my entire life. It was a truly unique, wonderful, albeit slightly overwhelming experience, and good value for money considering the experience - £65 for the whole thing, without wine. When the waiter came to pick up our plates, he looked at the bone disappointedly and said "you haven't touched it?", but there was definitely no more space left in our stomach 😁. Overall, an extraordinary experience in a lovely setting. The côte de bœuf can definitely be shared between 3 or even 4 people. Thanks to the chef and the waiters for having made this...
Read moreWe intended to have lunch at the restaurant this afternoon, but unfortunately had a very unpleasant experience and ended up leaving. I cannot recommend this place to anyone due to the behavior of the staff.
A blonde waitress spoke to us in an unacceptable tone. She told us that four people cannot sit at a table meant for six – which is completely understandable, as I have also worked in hospitality. However, her tone was unnecessarily rude and especially inappropriate considering the restaurant was nearly empty.
We had luggage with us, so while it wasn’t ideal, we were willing to move. We simply asked the indoor staff for help in choosing a table where we wouldn’t need to move again. At that point, the same blonde waitress returned and confronted us in an unprofessional and aggressive manner, demanding to know why we had spoken to her colleague – even though we were just explaining the situation and asking for a table.
I find it outrageous that a staff member would speak to guests like this. We were not disrespectful at all, and yet we were treated in a very discourteous way – so we decided to leave.
I sincerely hope the management takes this feedback seriously, speaks to the staff member in question, and reminds her that working in hospitality means more than enforcing rules – it requires professionalism and respect.
I used to come here regularly, but after this experience, I don’t want to return because of the attitude...
Read moreMy fiancé and I stopped off at Delaville on a whim, as we were out and about in Paris on a Saturday night. Unfortunately, the experience was a bit of a mixed bag.
First of all, it’s worth noting just how close together all of the tables are and how loud the restaurant is - we were shouting to hear eachother. It’s safe to say, in terms of atmosphere, it was definitely not my favourite.
We got started with the tempura prawns, which were actively bad. They were soggy and deflated on the outside and weirdly full of fluid when you bit into them - I really disliked these and do not recommend them at all.
For the main course, I went for the ribeye (entrecôte) steak with béarnaise sauce and gratin dauphinois as the side. This was just absolutely gorgeous. The steak was perfectly cooked and melted in the mouth, whilst the gratin dauphinois was creamy and delicious. The béarnaise was one of the best I’ve tasted to date, both flavour-wise and texture-wise. It was amazing!
My fiancé, on the other hand, went for the creamy truffle spaghetti, which was a really watery, bland and underwhelming dish. This was a real shame, as he struggled to get through his main whilst I savoured mine.
Overall, Delaville was a really mixed experience, with some dishes being really unpleasant and others being delicious. This lack of consistency makes it difficult to recommend Delaville as, depending on your order, you may have a fantastic or...
