My mother in law went to great efforts to find a hotel in Paris that was wheelchair accessible. She booked this hotel for the four of us when it claimed that it was--it even had an elevator! When we arrived we were quickly informed that our room on the 6th floor couldn't be reached by elevator. We would need a second room and there was one on the first floor. Even if we had been able to use the elevator though, the wheelchair wouldn't have even fit. So right there the cost doubled and they said it wasn't their fault. I'm still upset about how they treated my mother in law. I get into the room and immediately I see a bug on the wall. It's a cockoach. Great. I go to the front desk and let them know--she barely gives me a second look and tells me with attitude to throw it outside. Breakfast was alright, most of the front desk people weren't as rude as the one lady, but they were fairly incompetent as far as ordering taxis. We clearly said many times that we needed a large van yet a medium size car showed up, and they also ordered drivers that were 2x as expensive as taxis, probably because they got a cut. They also apparently recently renovated, but the floor and stairs of the rooms were crooked--we all felt drunk when we were in our rooms 😂 When checking out, we found rodent poison under the bed and the air conditioner leaked water when it was used. It really was a hotel of comedies, I just had to laugh with each new thing. Avoid this...

We had a lovely stay at Hotel des Comédies, conveniently located near the Bonne Nouvelle metro station. The hotel features beautiful decor and has a small, cozy atmosphere. We stayed in a three-bedroom room on the fourth floor. The breakfast was authentically French and quite delicious. While the variety wasn’t extensive, it was more than enough to keep us happy and our tummies full. The pastries were particularly amazing!

However, there were some less positive aspects related to the hotel’s maintenance. The carpets and curtains in our room had noticeable stains, which was disappointing. Additionally, the shower head was broken, causing water to splash everywhere, and the shower door leaked all over the bathroom. We had to use all the towels to soak up the water, which meant we couldn’t use them again the next day, as we try to limit towel usage to help the environment. Furthermore, the toilet seat and lid were both broken, and the air vents desperately needed to be cleaned. We reported these issues to the staff on our first day, but unfortunately, nothing was done during our stay. Given these maintenance issues, the price felt a bit high.

Despite these concerns, the beds were very comfortable, and the linens were soft and cozy. Aurelie at the front desk was fantastic, and all the staff members were friendly and welcoming.

Overall, with some attention to maintenance, this hotel could easily elevate the experience...

An old but nice hotel right in the city center of Paris. I booked the largest room being a duplex for my family of 5. The room was on the top floor with a window view of the Sacre Coeur and Montmartre. My kids had great fun in this duplex room with a stair going to the upper bed area. It had two bathrooms which was ideal for us. Everything was tidy and clean. No noises from neighbors. Friendly service at the reception who helped us out by arranging a taxi to take us to the Tour Eiffel. We did not have the breakfast as we only stayed for one night and had to leave early to go to Disneyland Paris. I parked my car at the Indigo Gare de l’Est which is a nice 8 min walk to this hotel. All great! Thank you and until next time, hotel des Comedies! PS. Sorry for the last photo with the untidy bed upstairs. I made that photo when leaving the next day. ;)

I'll start with the positives. The location is great and in a lively area. There are lots of great restaurants and grocery stores nearby. There is a bike rental hub right outside the door and metro stations very close. The hotel staff was extremely kind and helpful. They restocked and cleaned our room everyday. The beds were pretty comfortable and clean. The negatives were the bathroom and carpet conditions. The carpets needed to be cleaned very badly. The bathroom was covered in mold (see pictures). I didn't want to open my mouth while showering because the shower head had black mold all over it. I was shocked with the cleanliness of the bathrooms for the price we were paying to stay there. I probably won't be staying here again because of how gross/unsafe the bathrooms were.
