My husband and I dined at jjii for dinner during our trip to Paris recently, and it was one of the most memorable parts of our entire trip. From the moment we walked in it was a welcoming environment, with impeccable service start to finish. We got to taste a couple of wine options before choosing a glass (first for a glass of white, then later on for a glass of red, both absolutely delicious and paired perfectly with everything we ate), and after checking if we had dietary restrictions or major things we don't like, before we knew it food started arriving at our table. Every single course was delicious, perfectly cooked, and creative. The chef was warm and friendly, stopping to hear how we liked things along the way the entire meal. One dish with a lobster ravioli in butternut squash sauce was absolutely a standout - we both said we wished we could take a gallon of the sauce home with us it was so good, and the flavors and textures with some tempura battered fish made it truly exceptional. The dessert was also amazing, the chocolate dish we had being our favorite of the two. If you can make it, this is a must-try for a...
Read moreThe whole experience at Jjii was lovely. The server (on only his second day) was helpful and explained everything carefully. He was a highlight.
The food was very delicious all round, especially the sauces. After 6 courses, we felt satisfied by the dishes provided but not stuffed. Grilled asparagus was fantastic, as was the first dish - a salad with fish roe (although the roe added nothing much to the dish due to being small enough to just be swallowed, rather than the satisfying little pop you'd want).
I felt the dishes leaned quite heavily into seafood that wasn't especially thrilling - mild-tasting fish, the roe - but they were very tasty due to the sauces and accompaniments.
The atmosphere was quiet, calm and relaxing, with nice music. Service was really good. The guy serving explained all the dishes to the best of his abilities. Food came at well-spaced intervals so we were never rushed, nor were we waiting desperately for the next one.
A high recommend...
Read moreWe where intrigued by this restaurant while strolling the streets in Paris, the no visible name, and simple 5 course sign on the window caught our attention, in the past this kind of places have always been a wonderful surprise. What an amazing experience! The chef explains every course with such detail and excitement that we felt as if we were the only table in the restaurant, honestly, everything was so delicious and memorable that the only thing we were sorry about is not been able to go back as this was our last night in Paris. Incredible from start to finish! Thank you chef for the memorable experience and the wonderful sake! We will definitely be back next time we...
