I stayed at Best Western Premier Faubourg 88 for 2 nights at the start of April. It was located only an eight minute walk away from Gare du Nord, which ended up being a straight walk across one road to get there. The hotel was also about 15 steps away from the Poissonnière Metro station, which is on Line 7, so easy to get to Le Louvre, Hotel de Ville and Gare de l’Est.||Upon entering the hotel, there was a small but modern reception area. Check-in was fairly simple but I was quite surprised at being charged a €100 (per room) security deposit, which I wasn’t made aware of at the time of booking. This amount was paid back to me when I checked out (before my room had been inspected for damages), which seemed pointless. I also had to pay city taxes when I checked out, which worked out at approx €2 per night, per person.||Check out times were very convenient. I believe you could check-in from 2PM and check out before 12PM!||After check-in, I went to my room. There was a very spacious lift (especially by Paris standards) or a spiral staircase to use. The hotel only had five stories, so either option was convenient for me. There were also only six rooms per floor, so the hotel itself was very quiet.||I booked the Classic Room, which was slightly on the smaller side but was very modern and well designed. There was ample storage in the room but it was quite tight getting around the corners of the bed, so I had to keep my luggage in the space next to the door. The room had a large double bed, wardrobe, desk, tea/coffee making facilities, fridge, safe, complimentary Nuxe toiletries and en-suite shower room with toilet. In addition to this, the room had two large windows overseeing a courtyard and plenty of mirrors.||The hotel staff were fantastic, very pleasant and extremely helpful. They were always on hands to answer any queries or to provide directions etc.||Breakfast was included with my stay. It was a continental breakfast selection with a small number of cooked items (sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs). The restaurant area was, again, very modern and always had tables available for guests. The breakfast period was very generous and run until 10:30AM, meaning I could take my time and eat at my own pace.||I will definitely be returning to Best Western Premier Faubourg 88 next time I am in Paris. The great price, location and facilities made my stay...
Read moreI don't recommend you stay here. Unsecured luggage storage, cramped and small space, and bedbugs.
First, we arrived around 1:30, which was before check-in and the area where they store bags was in the open, to the side of the registration desk and not secure. The bags didn't get labeled with our names and they were just placed there by ourselves, not the hotel staff. Anyone could have accessed our bags, which was not very comforting.
We booked a two-bed room for three people. The room does have a very nice sized and recently remodeled bathroom with both a tub and shower and two sinks. However, the sleeping/living space is extremely cramped. The second bed is a pull-out couch, and when opened, it blocked the refrigerator, so every time we needed to access the refrigerator, we had to close the bed. The walking space between the beds and the walls is very tight.
What I have mentioned above can be experienced in many older Parisian hotels, but what has made this place extremely uncomfortable for us was our experience finding a bed bug.
The morning of our checkout, we were up at 5:30 am to catch our flight. In gathering our things we first noticed a streak of blood on the sheets and then found a bug in the sheets. I immediately smashed the bug and scanned it with Google Lens. The smashed bug was full of blood and Google Lens identified it as a bed bug. It had the oval shape of a bed bug and after viewing several images online, we were without a doubt 100% confident that this was a bed bug. The images, coupled with the finding small streaks of blood on the sheets, were very disconcerting for us.
On checkout, we showed the image of the bed bug to the receptionist at the front desk and she was shocked and very apologetic to us. She gave us the email for the hotel's director to notify him of the incident and request compensation. Unfortunately, the director has gaslit our concerns, claiming that the bug was a flea. In no way was this bug a flea, it was too big, and the appearance of the streak of blood on the sheets, a hallmark of a bed bug, would not occur with a flea.
As I was posting this review, I noticed another reviewer, Katie, also had an experience with bed bugs in the same room we stayed in. Room 503. They have two confirmed complaints for bed bugs in the same room and they claim that the bed bugs are just fleas....
Read moreI have had the worse customer experience ever at the Faubourg 88 hotel. I booked and paid for a superior room on February 2025 for a 4 nights over the Easter weekend in April. I booked the room using the chat service offered by Faubourg88 hotel as it was easy and fast to use. I wanted to book a room for me, my wife and our 2 years old baby. I wanted to book a classic room but the AI system told me that I needed to upgrade it to a supervisor room in order to comply with the French law because they were considering our baby as an adult guest. So I upgraded it to a superior room paying slightly more (800 euros). They confirmed it was ok for the 3 of us so I proceeded to the payment. However, on the day of arrival (2 months after) at 13:30 they sent me an email saying only the booking was for 2 people, no more information (I m happy to share also that email here with the time and content). I arrived at the hotel at 4:30m on Thursday the 17th of April. During the checkin I was told at the reception that my booking was wrong. The hotel manager told me that I should have booked an executive room instead or 2 rooms (which would have been still ridiculous for a 2 years old baby). I did show them the chat conversation that I had with their booking system to confirm that I was right. And I was right indeed. The manager finally blamed their own booking system. But as a result I was left without a room, with a 2 years old baby and no solution offered by the hotel except for them offering help to find another room at another Hotel. I needed to to find another hotel, paying double for the same room that I could have booked 2 months earlier and all the stress that this situation caused me. The faubourg 88 manager offered to refund my money. But I ended up paying more than 1200 euros to find another room somewhere nearby. They did not offer to pay anything despite it was their system fault. When I asked why they did not let me know about their system fault before nobody had an answer! If they were just letting me about that at the time of booking or also couple of days after I would have had all the time to arrange for another accommodation. I ended up not able to choose the hotel I wanted but only choosing what was left available last minute, spending a fortune, and very distressed. Please stay away from the Best Western...
