We would certainly recommend Le Coq et L’Elephant. The food we had was excellent, obviously based on carefully chosen ingredients, thoughtful recipes and perfectly cooked. We wanted to try lots of the dishes on the menu and there was no problem adapting a dish to replace an accompaniment we did not like with a delightful alternative. For starters we had the French onion soup, snails and Thai beef salad and they were all great. The snails were really tasty and served on deliciously cooked mushrooms. The soup was substantial but with a light flavour so not too filling. Our main courses were scallops and a sirloin steak and both were a real delight from the first to last mouthful. We had recommended wines for starters, main course and then a sweet wine for dessert and Armagnac with coffee. The service was very friendly and helpful and by the end of the meal we were trying work out how to extend our stay in Paris so we could go back. We will certainly return as soon as we are back in Paris and we will not...
Read moreI was there 5 days ago. We were a party of 5 and got the round table in the middle of the dining room, which was nice. I love the colours, the decor and the ambiance. The kitchen was semi-open as we walk it, which was assuring. I have a liking for open kitchens it feels like the chefs take pride in showing off his team and his kitchen. The chef was with clients explaining each dish, the spices and herbs used, as well as making recommendations for wine. He recommended that we ordered the starters to share among the 5 of us, we had the sausage with papaya salad, the sausage was very tasty. I love the ceviche with Thai herbs, and the boys devoured the mushrooms stuffed with escargots. I had the veal liver which was cooked to perfection! The chef took card of my lactose intolerance I has an apple potatoes puree which was delicious! We didn't have desserts as all of us were watching our waistline. 1 bottle of red, 3 starters ans 5 dishes, we ended with 167.50€. Highly recommend and we will...
Read moreWhat a spectac discovery after walking one day last year through the Jardin du Plantes -- and I've now returned several times. Passionately created (not just cooked) fusion dishes and an effervescent welcome from the kind chef.
The warm beef Thai salad--a life-long favourite that I use as a litmus test for Thai cuisine--was perfection. My friend's beef bourguignon popped with tender flavour. My gnocchi nestled in legumes and a delightful light sauce yielded a smile with every bite. Whether a traditional French dish or something Thai-inspired, each meal is a festival of delicacies and flavour. Added bonus: if requested, the chef can add strong spices with some heat! I am returning again soon with other friends so we can further explore the dishes and the promising wine list. I'll cross the river any day for this delicious and...
