My coworker and I were meandering Paris and looking for a bakery when we decided to stop for a drink at this cute café bar, Le Courcelles😎 We ordered Campari Spritzes and fairly quickly decided to eat, each ordering the organic egg and aged cheese omelette with lettuce hearts. It was simple, but it tasted so good! While I was familiar with it, my coworker was not aware of how good non-American bread is, especially in France! We enjoyed a few pieces with fresh extra-virgin olive oil and crushed salt while we enjoyed our drink, drinks and food and the weather. While we spent a couple hours here, the on-floor manager, Pierre, engaged us with conversations and a great smile! He was very friendly and offered some helpful hints on things to do on future layovers! I’ll definitely be back and I will definitely be hunting out peers recommendations! Until...
Read moreWrapped around a dog's leg bend in Boulevard Courcelles, iconic and rather charming Parisian brasserie but with a bit of a dated, could-do-with-a-good-clean-feel (dead flowers are never a fresh decor and they're strung everywhere!) The service was pleasant but not warm. Attentive yet blasé. I keep hearing myself say that! Is it Paris? Or a tourist trap? More the latter. Big sign in English does not promise authenticity. Huge terrace. Many servers each with their own zone. Yet it took 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive (a mocktail and a white wine, hardly difficult). I enjoyed it. The setting. Can't comment on the food. Prices ok. On the steep side. Tiny glass of pouilly fuissé 8 euros ... but it was warm. I wouldn't be rushing back for that reason alone. The jury's out nonetheless on the overall. Fabulous location and an enticing spot...
Read moreI recently visited Café Courcelles, and unfortunately, my experience was marred by poor service. The waiters were rude and disrespectful, refusing to let us sit and order drinks without placing a full order. We haven’t sat down yet to read menues to decide what we wanted. Despite our intention to order, the waiter lacked patience, abruptly stating he'd refuse to serve us and walking away. The manager, called over to address the issue, was equally unhelpful and dismissive, emphasizing the importance of speaking respectfully to the waiter - which we had done. It seems the waiter may have misrepresented the situation. Café Courcelles' motto is "The customer is always right," but the staff's behavior fell short of this standard. A bit more attention to customer service and respect would go a long way in improving the experience...
