Do not leave Paris without eating here!!!!
THIS IS A BIT LONG BUT STAY WITH ME UNTIL THE END!!! Last night we had the most incredible dinner @lepotegerdecharlotte This is a restaurant not to be missed. The presentation of each dish was only outdone by its flavor. There were no disappointments except when we were done and that's only because the meal was over. We were greated by Adrien, one the brothers who co-owns the restaurant. David, the other brother is the Chef and genius would not be an understatement. His creations elevated dining to another level. By far the best meal we've had in Paris and one of the more creative meals from start to finish I can recall. Initially I thought that everything would be too "light" but it turned out that each appetizer, main dish and dessert possessed incredible flavors and nuance. Each was hearty, filling and absolutely satisfying. We literally rolled ourselves out of the restaurant. The menu changes seasonally and there were three options for each course. Since we couldn't order everything we opted to each order different dishes and shared. For appetizers we ordered Chickpea and Rice Pancakes and Avocado-hardboiled egg style. The Chickpea and rice pancakes were absolutely incredible. Each pancakes came filled with cashew cream and roasted pumpkin seeds over greens. The cashew cream both filled and melted in your mouth leaving the pancake's wonderfully chewy texture. Simply delicious!!! The Avocado was perfectly ripe and filled with creamy chickpea hummus seasoned with turmeric and topped with pumpkin seeds. A side salad dressed and topped with sunflower seeds gave the whole dish great texture. This was served with a basket of warm, soft bread that was not only tasty in its own right but was a great compliment to the avo and hummus. Having finished of the appetizers we eagerly waited for the mains and were certainly not disappointed. We shared a Sweet Potato Puree and a dish of Green Lentils and Mushrooms. The Sweet Potato puree was set in a dish of roasted sesame cream and topped with beetroot, cauliflower, leeks sprouts and chives. Blackened tofu and black sesame seeds floated in the cream. The combination of the sesame cream and the slightly crunchy veggies was fantastic. The mixture of the chewy tofu and cream was equally delightful. This was our favorite dish!!!! The Green lentils served as a base for the shitake mushrooms, and green onions all of which was surrounded by pumpkin cream and roasted pumpkin seeds. Given how incredible the apps and mains were we couldn't pass up dessert an ordered one to share, the Chocolate Baked Pear. The most delectable poached pear filled with decadent melted chocolate chips flavored with vanilla and agave. Surrounded by roasted buckwheat and almonds with slices of kiwi and tangerine. We made sure the each bite of fruit included the chocolate and some of the roasted buckwheat and almonds. Each bite was fruity, chocolatey and crunchy. Absolutely beyond!!! Just when we thought we were done, and certainly stuffed beyond expectations Adrien appeared with one more dessert for us to share, Cacao Cream. Served in a small jar topped with sweet, light and airy coconut cream with roasted hazelnuts on top. Each spoonful of sweet coconut cream balanced the rich pudding. David brilliantly blended avocado into the cacao to give it an even richer and smoother taste. Adrien could not have been more helpful and attentive repeatedly asking how we enjoyed each dish and genuinely interested in our thoughts and feedback. We gave him a list of vegan restaurants in New York and he shared other restaurants in Paris. This is by far the best meal we've had in Paris. Read moreReally wanted to like it but just disappointed. Especially for the price.
Pros: attentive, nice and friendly staff, good dinnerware and crockery, nice decorations, easy to reserve online system with SMS reminders and option to modify/cancel.
Cons: very cramped like sardines in a can - you have to disturb other diners and get them to move their table just to get into your seat. You sit so closely together that you hear everyone’s conversations. It is just too packed and loud. OK for a student bar. Not OK for an expensive restaurant.
Food: very nice presentation and garnishing. Great attention to detail, nice textures and colours. Fresh leaves. Nice cashew cream found in several dishes, good consistency.
Entrée: crèpes de riz et pois chiches - pancake was too heavy and too much turmeric. Sesame tofu was good but the citrus sauce was too sweet and took over the whole flavour. Please pay attention to flavour balancing.
Plat: Rigatoni - basil sprig garnish wonderful. Pasta not ok - some undercooked, some so overcooked the rigatoni tubes broke apart. Not ok at all for 19.50.
And the slices of heirloom tomatoes used as garnish: red was was very overripe and fridge cold - on a hot pasta dish. Green tomato was room temperature but so unripe it was sour and like eating an apple. Not a good feeling.
Cajun rice - loved the celery and oil garnish. Grilled zucchini perfect. The rice disappointed. The texture was claggy. No flavour. Just a lump of rice and corn hidden under beautiful vegetables…
Dessert - pancakes with homemade chocolate sauce. Nice light coconut flavour in pancake (same shape as the starter btw..) sauce nothing special - tastes like regular chocolate sauce. Otherwise, fruits and garnishing on top were good.
When I pay 91 euros for 2 (no alcohol) and have to leave by 9pm before the 2nd service, I expect a better experience. However I was so disappointed. I really hope they...
Read moreIt was Monday night and I was in Paris for work. I wanted to get a vegan meal and try a new (to me) vegan restaurant. I love trying French food that is vegan so I made a reservation. The earliest for the same day was 9:15pm. I was seated right away and the restaurant filled up quickly.
The menu is in French and has a back half in English.
I ordered sparkling water and a kombucha to start. For food I got the marinated tofu as a starter and the roasted eggplant as a main course. It was hard to choose because so many options sounded delicious.
The kombucha was perfect. It had a really nice raspberry flavor. Not too sweet and not too much like vinegar.
The tofu starter was incredible. It was perfectly marinated with every bite being full of flavor. The sauce was a really nice citrus addition to the crispy outside of the tofu. It wasn't over fried either because the inside of the tofu was still soft. I really enjoyed this. I soaked all the extra sauce up with the bread they gave me and cleaned the plate. It's a large portion too. I was feeling pretty full and my main course hadn't even been served yet.
Next was the roasted eggplant. It was huge! The large eggplant was cut in half and laid on top of a pool of hummus. It was covered in delicious herbs like mint and dill as well as pomegranate seeds, cucumber slices, and chopped peppers. The roasted texture was so nice with the creamy hummus. It tasted like all the ingredients for baba ganoush. Absolutely delicious.
Afterwards I was overfull so I skipped ordering a dessert. The waiter was really nice eye candy though so that will have to do.
I highly recommend eating here.
Pros: Large portions, Lots of options, Friendly to...
