This place looks great from the street and is always packed full of locals which was key in my decision to eat here. Service was good with English menus and wait staff, atmosphere was relaxed, and food was average.
They didn't have the foie gras that I was craving so I had the seafood ravioli starter. It came, unexpectedly, in a bowl swimming in sauce and topped with olive oil. It tasted delicious, and is something I would gladly eat at home or serve to children, but it seemed out of place in a restaurant like this. The rump steak with fries and side salad followed, and again, swimming in sauce and is something I would eat at home, but do not expect at a restaurant. I ordered the steak med-rare and it came medium - perhaps a fault in the kitchen or miscommunication due to language. Fries were good, but the side salad was made with wilted browning lettuce - disappointing to say the least.
Overall the food was tasty but lacked attention to detail. Go here for the atmosphere and to spend time with friends, but keep your expectations about the...
Read moreThe place has quite a pleasant interior and friendly service. The food is not as good, though. The biggest disappointment was the fries, which was overcooked and partially burned. Even our children refused to eat it, though they usually prefer fries over everything else. The meat was not appropriate either. We ordered beef pave, entrecote and minced steak for the children. The minced steak and entrecote were tasteless and hard. Pave was ordered medium rare, but was rather well done. The meat could have been tasteless as well but the sauce partially saved the taste. Another surprising point is that the thickness was created by merely folding a thin piece of meat similar to entrecote. Escargots were fine though. Surprisingly enough, the bottled dark french beer Demory they served was quite good, even though they didn't brew it themselves, of course. It was a nice addition to save the...
Read moreWe visited this place yesterday. The waiter who greeted us took us to a table, though without a single smile or greeting. He simply threw one of the menus on the table. The establishment was not very busy with the number of customers, but we had to wait long enough to order. A very kind and sweet girl took the order, thanks to her. Regarding the food. The onion soup was simply wonderful, rich and tasty. We had to wait more than 20 minutes for the fish and chips after the first course was finished. The dish was served barely warm, which suggests that they were simply in no hurry to bring it out. The dish was delicious, the potatoes and fish were well-fried, and the sauce was clearly homemade, which is a big plus. In general, the dishes and atmosphere can be given a sufficient score, but the customer service needs to...
