I am sorry but I can't rate this place for more than 2 stars. The waiter and waitress were friendly enough, but we had to wait for more than thirty minutes for them to notice us and brought us the menu. To be honest, it wasn't even that busy in the restaurant. Luckily, other customers saw our frustration and gave us their menu so we could at least check the menu first.
This bottle of wine cost us 24 Euros. We were aware that this was not the best wine oh the menu, but we didn't expect to have the worse wine we had ever tasted in our life in that evening. The wine had a very strong alcoholic flavor upon our first sip. It was so strong that we almost choke on it. So we decided to decant it a little bit. It did get better for a while, but once the temperature of the wine rose up, the flavor became alcoholic and bitter. We tried so hard to finish it, but we couldn't. After the meal, the wine also upset our stomach. It was just horrible. I strongly believe that the restaurant manager should take this wine off their menu.
The main course were also not so impressive. The beef stew was ok at best. Apologies if I sound offensive, but it just tasted like pre-cooked food. The poulet was even worse. They basically served us half of a chicken breast attached to the bones. The meat was dry and chewy. It was difficult to get the meat off the bones. The gravy was also too salty. The fries looked like take away from McDonald's (no offense to McDonald's fries). It's not that the fries did not taste good (because fries are always good). I just don't see the point of spending 19 Euros for this dish.
Some may argue that the their price is relatively reasonable. But to be honest, even their price isn't that appealing, because I know for a fact that you can still have decent food with the same price at other...
Read moreA Lovely Lunch at Le Roussilon on Rue Cler
While exploring the charming Rue Cler, one of Paris’s most delightful pedestrianized market streets, filled with fromageries, boulangeries, fruit vendors, and cafés, we stumbled upon Le Roussilon and decided to stop for lunch based on the good reviews we saw from others on Google Maps.
They had seats available, and we chose a table that opened right onto the pavement, perfect for soaking in the lively atmosphere of Rue Cler. The service was excellent; friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout.
The menu offered a very nice variety of options, and we decided on the Steak Tartare (Tartare de Bœuf) with French fries, Bœuf Bourguignon with mashed potatoes, and shared an Île Flottante (floating island) for dessert. Each dish was well-prepared and delicious, the tartare fresh and flavorful, the boeuf bourguignon rich and hearty, and the dessert a light, sweet finish.
Le Roussilon also has a good selection of drinks, including draft and bottled beers, wine, and other beverages. We enjoyed a crisp white wine with our meal, which paired perfectly with the food.
Overall, it was a wonderful afternoon spent relaxing over lunch in a beautiful Parisian setting. We’ll definitely return to Le Roussilon the next time we...
Read moreTotally local bar bistro with locals the majority of clientele. Wow wow wow. We had a formule dejeuner or a set lunch of seared tuna steak with saffron risotto AND a Charolet Beef filet au poivre with scalloped potatoes. Cresmy carrot curry soup as appetizer. The amazing thing is this place is primarily a bar but like many places in France the chef/cuisinier takes their job seriously. The French believe it is their birthright to have good food (like the Spanish) We were on a quick lunch break from a bike tour sit we could not enjoy dessert. Like most French bars that are not specialist wine bars they have s limited selection of wines. Go with a suggestion from the staff but in general know what you like and they will steer you right. The Bordeaux in the picture was not any fancy vintage or grand cru but like most places in Europe... wow 5 euros. Try getting that quality in NYC or Newport Beach for that money.
Expect to pay 18 euros for your set meal with is starter, entree, dessert. Learn a few French phrases. Wonderful wait staff. For Paris this is great value. I will come back for sure as this is absolutely 100% a local place. We were the only...
