Full Review: A Taste of Paris at La Petit Cler
This establishment brings a slice of Parisian bistro life to its location, offering classic French dishes in a charming, cozy setting. Its popularity is evident, with a bustling atmosphere especially around lunchtime.
The croque madame was elevated with exceptionally stretchy cheese and topped with a perfectly cooked sunny-side-up egg, the dish struck an ideal balance between richness and creaminess. A light leafy salad accompanied the croque, dressed in a punchy yet light vinaigrette that added a welcome freshness to cut through the richness of the main component.
To complement the meal, the Vitamine drink (a blend of carrot, ginger, and apple) offered a mellow and subtly sweet flavor profile with pleasant earthy undertones. This thoughtfully crafted beverage provided a perfect counterpoint to the richness of the croque madame.
The atmosphere is one of the strongest assets. The interior is tastefully designed with handsome dark woods providing a sophisticated backdrop to a light, bright space. This thoughtful contrast creates a warm and inviting ambiance. The cozy setting is further enhanced by street facing doors, which can be opened to blur the line between indoor and outdoor dining. This feature not only allows for excellent people-watching – a quintessential Parisian pastime – but also creates an airy feel when open. On pleasant days, it transforms the dining experience into something akin to a Parisian sidewalk café. The inviting aromas wafting through the space further enhance the sensory experience, enticing both seated diners and passersby.
Service was a highlight, with staff being both attentive and friendly. The efficiency of service was noteworthy, especially considering the popularity during peak hours.
This bistro successfully captures the essence of French dining, from its menu offerings to its ambiance.
For those seeking an authentic French bistro experience, this establishment delivers. Whether you're in the mood for a leisurely lunch or a cozy dinner, it offers a delightful escape to Paris, if only for a meal. Just be prepared for a potentially busy atmosphere, especially during peak hours – though the lively buzz only adds to the authentic...
Read moreThis is a very cosy restaurant, located in a central part of Paris. The atmosphere is typical very French, complemented by the menu, which offers mostly French meals. The tables are tiny and extremely closed to one another, which can be dually accepted. On the one side, it gives you a feeling of heartfelt environment, but on the other side – the privacy is lost. The patio is actually on the pavement, as it is the case of plenty of restaurants and cafes in Paris. We visited the café at lunch on a national holiday. Although the patio was full, we could find a table. The service is very good, with polite and adequate waiters. They offered a menu in English, and were always alert if everything was ok, while having quite a busy day. The menu is not very rich, which, in my opinion, is an advantage. It also offers enough diversity of meals with meat and vegetarian ones. The salads are very original, tasty and of satisfying quantity. A point of the menu is the suggestion of daily specials, which differ every single day. The meals are served warm, but not hot - just at the right temperature to start eating them immediately. The crème brûlėe is simply fantastic, the coffee is excellent and comes with a complimentary fine dark bio chocolate bar! In addition, the homemade sourdough bread with butter is a true delight! Some of the minuses are the beer (although draught one, it has nothing to do with the original); the lack of explanation of the dishes (you are not sure if a meal is vegetarian or contains ingredients unfavorable for you, etc); the fried potatoes in the salad with goat cheese; the steak was tasty, but served well done instead of medium, as ordered. Other than that, I would always...
Read moreI give this average French experience 1 star. The waiters were trying their best on a busy night however ignored my partners obvious attempts for service multiple times, leaving us feeling unimportant and embarrassed. The entree food board was completely average with stale bread and sour smelling prosciutto. The mains were ordered I asked for the steak and was intrigued when the sever didn’t question how I would like it cooked. It came out well done on the ends and rare in the middle. My girls Chicken was a HUGE disappointment, she complained to me there was a vague rubbery texture to her chicken. Upon further examination we were shocked to find large chicks of the chicken was completely raw and still gooey. She had already eaten a few pieces and began almost instantly to feel sick. We alerted to the waiter the issue, he quickly whisked away the plate with a quick apology. He then returned with the chicken re-cooked and half of her potato missing :( . Me and my partner rarely complain even at below average experiences, however we feel the need to warn tourists who come here expecting a nice French dining experience. It was everything but from the moment we sat down till the moment I paid the waiter, who expressed no thanks or enjoy your night, but a...
