On a very cold initial evening back in the city of light, we walked from Rue Keller in the 11th to the Oberkampf neighborhood of the 11th for reservations at a restaurant. The 11th arrondissement changes culture almost block to block. Oberkampf is hipper, and more bar/casual than Charonne where Rue Keller lies. Needing a drink before dinner on this Friday in early December, we found Mobster Bar, but had no code to enter. Thus, I piggy backed on to a group and followed them in. We found two seats at the bar, and Michael, the kind manager invited us to settle in. Mobster Bar is not one of the popular hipster bars of Oberkampf, and I heard mostly English. It is a classy mixology bar and definitely on the tourist trail.
Kevin is the maestro mixing cocktails, and he is an impresario of alcohol. His concoctions are magnifique. However, the etiquette in Paris calls for ordering a cocktail from the menu, and the bovine that I am, tried to have Mobster mix me a personal cocktail. It was unsettling, and I was gently steered towards a prescribed cocktail. It was delicious, but I was embarrassed by my lack of etiquette. BTW, Mobster is not a place for a quick drink. These cocktails take time.

Upon entering Mobster Bar, I was immediately struck by the intimate and cozy atmosphere. The dim lighting and rustic decor create a unique ambiance that transports you to a different era. The service was prompt and friendly, and the drink menu offered a great variety of cocktails and spirits.
What sets Mobster Bar apart from other bars in Paris is their selection of vintage liquors and cigars. It's a true haven for whiskey and cigar enthusiasts, and the knowledgeable staff can guide you through their impressive collection.
My only criticism is that the seating can be a bit cramped, but this only adds to the cozy charm of the bar.
To improve, Mobster Bar could consider expanding their food menu beyond snacks and appetizers. A few hearty options would make for a more complete experience.
Overall, I highly recommend Mobster Bar to anyone looking for a unique and intimate drinking experience in Paris. The atmosphere, service, and unique offerings make it a hidden gem that's definitely worth a visit. I left with a great impression and will definitely be back on my next...
Read moreWe absolutely loved our visit to this bar! The entrance alone was an experience – finding our way in through a riddle in a phone booth was both fun and exciting. Once inside, we were impressed by the cozy and intimate atmosphere. The bar isn't very large, but that only adds to its charm and character.
Thanks to our email reservation, we had a private space all to ourselves, which made the evening even more special. The drinks were excellent, and the service was top-notch. The bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable, and were happy to mix up other classic cocktails on request.
Definitely a place worth checking out if you're looking for something different...
