Wow wow wow!!!After having a very satisfying Turkish lunch in the same area, We stumbled upon this beauty. As soon as we saw a line going around the corner and people trying to grab a bite at this place. We knew we had to try it out. I think today was a good day for us to step out and have some truly amazing food.(knock wood)🤞🏽. Even though we had just finished lunch , we just had to grab a roll and see what the craze is all about. Urfa Durum, A small hole in the wall place but truly amazing sandwiches aka pita rolls aka shawarma and I don't what else it's called. They have few options ranging from smoked chicken, minced meat, chunky meat pieces or just plain lahmachun which is like a thin crust Turkish pizza with mince meat and all sorts of coloured pepper toppings. (its not that spicy, just a kick) They stuff their rolls or sandwiches with fresh vegetables like onions, tomatoes some green leaves and sumac spice with a generous squeeze of lemon juice. It's a roll made in heaven. This also seemed like a family run place and you can definitely feel the love in their food. It was simply brilliant. Not much of sit down place but more like a place where you grab your rolls asap and then walk away enjoying that mouthwatering beauty. This place is definitely going to be a once a week spot from now I know it. Awesomess on another level. Thank you so much Urfa Durum. You...
Read moreOne of the hardest things to find in Paris is quality quick eats that you can also take on the street. Urfa Durum is the best place I know where you can walk in anytime of the day and eat something authentic and incredibly delicious. To start the flat breads for these Kurdish sandwiches are made fresh all day long. They are hand rolling the dough and putting them in an oven so that when you get your sandwich, the flat bread literally just came out of the oven, this makes a huge difference in the taste. Then the meat is cooked over an open fire in the restaurant on skewers. They have live coals going in a trench and they use a hair dryer to get the coals blazing hot and cook the skewered meat perfectly. Then the flat breads and the just off the grill meats are wrapped with parsley and vegetables and some spices. If these are not the perfect Parisian street food then I dont know what is. They have some seating available but many times when I am in a rush, I will stop here because it is very fast and the tastiest food you can get hands down. There are many Turkish style doner sandwich places in Paris, but Urfa Durum is so much better than any of these regular kabap joint. No one I have taken to eat at Urfa Durum was remotely disappointed and were blown away like "how did I not know about...
Read moreAfter being convinced by a fashion mogul friend to turn a 2-hour layover into a 1 night stay in Paris, we were on a speed run to hit all the possible spots. Our first stop for food was Urfa Dürüm as my buddy was staying right by here. Although I was a bit skeptical as I was more in the mood for some quality Steak Frites as opposed to a Kurdish sandwich on my one and only night in Paris, he told me this was a spot Bourdain frequented. I was sold. He's a good salesman and I'm an easy sell. He also said we were short on time as we had to get to a models birthday party so... yeah, easy sell. My skepticism was even further buried into the Parisian soil when we walked into Urfa Dürüm, as they were making the doughy flat bread from scratch right in the window. My stomach was ready. I opted to hit the lamb button. It was grilled to order and grilled to perfection. It was served in that warm, miraculous flatbread with arugula, red onion, and tomato. It was absolutely delicious and satiating. We opted to eat it to go as we had places to be, although those little chairs out front looked so cool. This was a bit of an odd, eclectic neighborhood and not what you think of when think of Paris, but I grew a major affinity for it in my 18 hours...
