XiaoLongKan Hotpot – A Fiery Feast and Warm Hospitality in the Heart of Paris
I’ve dined at XiaoLongKan several times over the past few years, and I’m genuinely impressed by how much the service has improved. On our most recent visit, the staff were incredibly warm, attentive, and helpful from the moment we stepped through the door. They offered thoughtful suggestions for broth combinations and dipping sauces, checked in regularly without being intrusive, and even helped us with little things like adjusting the heat level and providing extra bibs for the baby. It was clear that the team has made great strides in creating a welcoming and guest-centered experience.
As for the hotpot itself—it remains unmatched in Paris. The quality of the ingredients, the depth of flavor in the broth, and the rich aroma that fills the air as soon as the pot begins to bubble… it’s a full sensory experience. Every bite feels comforting and indulgent. The spicy tomato broth delivers the perfect kick (always been my favorite). While the mushroom base is great for those who prefer something milder.
A special shoutout goes to what I now consider their hidden gem: the sweet sticky rice rolls. They're easy to miss on the menu but absolutely worth ordering. Served warm, coated in soybean powder, and just the right level of chewy and sweet—they're the perfect ending (or interlude) to a spicy meal.
Whether you're a hotpot lover or trying it for the first time, XiaoLongKan is a must-visit. It’s not just a meal—it’s...
Read moreI would strongly recommend going at lunch and getting a lunch menu deal it came with vegetables, beef, lamb, fish fillet, dumplings, and assortment of fish/meat balls, fresh noodles all for a very reasonable price. The staff are attentive and can speak English, are insightful on what they have to offer. I liked how the sesame oil was packaged in an individual bottle in the sauce section considering it can lose the scent if left open, very considerate of them!! As for the hotpot the flavour was amazing. We got a mushroom and tomato based soup and they had a deep enriching flavour with a bit of tanginess in the tomato soup. I especially liked the fish fillet since it was very tender and had absorbed the soup. I had been to a popular hot pot chain in London, Haidil*o, but this place is significantly better in terms of price and quality. I have 3 staples sauces that I make whenever I have hot pot. Oyster sesame sauce: 0.5 oyster sauce, 0.5 bottle of sesame oil, 0.3 minced garlic, 0.3 thai chilli, 1 spring onions, sprinkle of sugar, 0.3 sesame seed, coriander to your liking. Salty and sour sauce: 4 soy sauce, 3 Chinese vinegar, 1 spring onion, 0.5 Thai chilli, 0.3 minced garlic. Sesame chilli sauce: 2 sesame paste, 1 chilli sauce, 0.5 chilli oil, 0.5 spring onions, 0.5 coriander, 0.3 minced garlic, 0.3 sesame seed, sprinkle of sugar, 0.3 nut. Would definitely...
Read moreWe came to this place on a weekday for dinner, with a reservation. Around 1.5 hours after we started, a waiter gave us the bill without asking whether we were done or whether we would want to add anything. Since there was still food in the hotpot, we ignored him and continued eating. A few moments later, there came another waitress who rudely asked us to leave because some customers (presumably without a reservation) had been waiting for a long time. We explained to her that we were still eating. But she insisted that we should leave so that they could serve those customers. We didn't confront her further, we just told the manager that we would never come back on our way out.
To be fair, the environment and the food of this place were not bad. However, because of this poor experience, I have blacklisted this place and I will also not recommend this place...
