We had the pleasure to visit this place on our last night in Reims. I would recommend placing a reservation the day before, especially if you want lunch, as we went in around noon the day of and they were able to squeeze us in for dinner.
The venue had a family feel with a farm-to-table ethos, with a deli bar, one wall dedicated to a great selection of champagnes, red and white wines, and with products they were serving available for purchase around scattered cookbooks on French cuisine.
Our hosts were some of my favorite people we met while traveling Champagne, very friendly, welcoming, and excited to engage with you on the food and wine they are so obviously passionate about. Let them guide you to what you want, you will try new things and be better for it. The basque terrine was like nothing I had ever had before, and they poured us a wonderful selection of wines, one of which I had to buy to take home with me.
I could not recommend this place enough, I know exactly where we’re going on...
Read moreLuci and I had the pleasure of having a private lunch with Aline and Eric at their lovely, inviting restaurant in Reims. We spent a few hours sharing our love of good food, music, travel and champagne. Eric has a fantastic audio set up & he shared his varied collection of vinyl records throughout dinner. It was great to talk with a mutual audiophile. Aline’s suggestion for a champagne for our lunch was spot on. She also had great suggestions for champagne importers in our area and great places to visit near us. We felt truly welcome. All of their food is organic and carefully & ethically sourced. We had the most delicious smoked salmon, pate, terrine and duck confit. Knowing that everything was lovingly chosen from local families that used organic and ethical methods made if even more enjoyable. They also gave us suggestions for great places to try on our journey through france. We are going to try a really cool farm to table meal / experience near Beaune. We had a...
Read moreWe discovered a hidden gem in Reims, France - Au Bon Manger. An eatery that passionately supports small family businesses, creating a sanctuary where gastronomic delights shine, away from the hustle of big industry.
Stepping into Au Bon Manger is like visiting a friend's home, complete with a cozy kitchen, warm hospitality, and the delightful charm of a homemade feast.
The hosts, Aline and Eric with the help of Xavier, are true aficionados of fine food and wine. They offered us a blind wine tasting experience, encouraging unpretentious enjoyment of their expertly curated selection.
Our table was adorned with an exquisite variety of charcuterie, cheese, duck rillettes, an outstanding terrine, and a pork dish that forever changed the way we perceive this meat - tender, salty, and delightfully fatty.
Au Bon Manger has become a standout in our culinary journey - no surprise that it's a sought-after spot. Be sure to book ahead to enjoy this...
