Located on a corner of the historic square, this classic French restaurant is a great place for dinner. Book ahead as it is popular too! The service is attentive, patient (with our rusty French) and friendly. The food excellent for the price point. Excellent wine list with many good wines available by the glass. Not too casual but not too formal either.
We had the ceviche (on fennel, chickpea humus, pickles) and asparagus with burata (candied kumquats, wild garlic) for our starters. Bread of course is served and I had to remind twice of my gluten allergy with the bread and the amusebouche, but my starter and main did not contain any gluten. Our mains were the grilled lamb with aubergine (feta, olives, celery) and steamed pollack (lemongrass, turnips, mashed potatoes, vanilla). I could have done with something carb based to accompany the lamb, but everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. The detail in the dishes makes it a more interesting dinner, isn't overpowering, allowing the star on the plate to shine and everything else compliment it. Portions sizes were about right - not too much not too small.
Prices are about right for what you get, although could be seen as a little steep overall. We're based on London prices so for us this is about normal.
It has an upmarket interior and very comfortable seats with good sized tables arranged so that you are not talking right next to someone else, allowing a feeling of a bit more privacy. It's well thought out for a pleasant...
Read moreFor the gastronomical people! My mom and I came here at the recommendation of our hotel receptionist. The atmosphere is gentle, colorful and the staff was AMAZING. These people were apologizing to us for not speaking English well!! Although most of the staff was comfortable, especially our server. An excellent wine list, great variety and complete. The wine by the glass (we like to try a couple different wines) were both fabulous. I took direction from my server and he was excellent in both the food recs and the menu items. The menu items were diverse, somewhat intimidating but overall accessible and very tasty. I think if you’re comfortable with “foodie” food this is a great spot for you. It’s definitely deviant from traditional French food and in a good way! It was innovative in flavor and comforting in texture. A perfect spot to push your tastebuds. We’re leaving with full bellies and general happiness. Feels hygge. A place I would frequent if I lived here. So happy we came here and can’t wait to...
Read moreBrilliant spot for lunch in a tourist heavy area but not a tourist restaurant. We had the entree, plat, dessert menu. There were two items to choose from in each category so we had one of each. Each one was more delicious than the next. We started with the red tuna with goat cheese ice cream. Amazing. I never would have thought of that (why I am not a spectacular French chef!) and the sprig of dill on the top was perfect. The duck in puff pastry was also delicious but I give the tuna the prize for entree. The plats were a delicious steak with amazing fries and a nicely done fish. Both wonderful but in this case I give the win to the steak. Both desserts were also delicious, the lime dessert was my favorite but my spouse loved the cafe gourmand. Altogether with a glass of wine each and two coffee the bill was 77€. Worth every penny. Thank you so much to the lovely staff for being so helpful and the chef...
