Le Bistrot de Cathy — Restaurant in Saint-Malo

The reason I'm giving a 1-star review for the first time ever is that we were greeted and escorted to the table, all looking good, but then after placing the orders for starters and mains and receiving the starter (oysters - very good tasting) our table was given a notice that the kitchen is closing and we would not receive the mains at all, that were accepted as an order by the staff earlier. Why get seated at all then? The staff seemed very junior, likely resulting in a scenario where they are just obeying basic rules but not understanding consumer experience. Please improve the service...

Ich verstehe die Vielzahl an schlechten Bewertungen nicht: Das Essen ist grandios - die Moules frittes (bretonische Muscheln mit Pommes und dazu am besten Cidre) sind exzellent! Die überdachte Terrasse am Rand der Straße gibt Blick auf die vielen Touristen und das Lokal selber ist nett - vor allem historisch (ist ja an der Stadtmauer) mit dem alten Gemäuer - das hier ist ein Stück altes Saint Malo. Die Dame, die uns beweritet hat, ist sehr nett gewesen. Wenn man auf Französisch bestellt (oder es versucht), dann öffnet das Herzen und Tore; die Dame freute sich mit entsprechenden Komplimenten. Die Muscheln in Weißweinsauße waren herrlich. Zum Nachtisch natürlich Crème brulée. Danke an das Team!

Je ne comprends pas la multitude de mauvaises critiques : la nourriture est grandiose - les moules frittes (moules bretonnes avec des frites et de préférence du cidre) sont excellentes ! La terrasse couverte sur le bord de la route offre une vue sur les nombreux touristes et l'endroit lui-même est agréable - surtout historique (il est sur les remparts de la ville) avec les vieux murs - c'est un morceau de l'ancien Saint Malo. La dame qui nous a évalués a été très gentille. Si vous commandez en français (ou essayez), alors le cœur et les portes s'ouvrent; la dame se réjouit avec des compliments appropriés. Les moules dans la sauce au vin blanc étaient délicieux. Pour le dessert, bien sûr, Crème brulée. Merci...

Absolutely incredible seafood and very good value. One of the best meals I have EVER eaten. Mussels, scallops, prawns and salmon all in the most delicious sauce with excellent fries. House Red wine, (merlot) was lovely. If I ever came back to St Malo, this would be my first stop for lunch/dinner. So much better value than most of the other places along this strip of restaurants and outstanding...
