What a fabulous evening. On our last night on the Island we dined @ L'Astrolabe. There were six of us charming ladies. Lol Everything about the restaurant exceeded our expectations. The owner is very present - greeting & chatting with clients. The menu selection includes fish, meats, a few pasta dishes, appetizers & desserts. (A fix prix is available) Everything we tried was scrumptious. Duck, lamb, shrimp beef, etc. The desserts are mouthwatering; crepes suzette, creme brulee, raspberry tiers & there's also one called 'Norwegian omelette' which is similar to a baked Alaskan. Such a pleasure writing a review for this place. Walking into this beautiful, sexy upbeat restaurant makes you feel good right away. We sat at the bar as we arrived early for our reservation. Pascale, the talented and engaging bartender, was FABULOUS. I watched him carefully prepare every drink that was ordered and each of them were like a work of art. He is funny, interesting and all around a COOL guy. We loved him immediately. The owner was engaging, stylish, with an easy attitude. The food was DELICIOUS. The place is magical. We sat pool side and had the prix fix menu. Delicious. I cannot say enough how you must try this place. Superior service and no course was less than any other.You can tell a lot from the soup course. We began with a lobster bisque and a gaspacho, and both were terrific in plan and perfect in execution. Friday was special for lobster. The butter sauce complimented the sweetness of the easily accessible meat nicely. Creme brulee in three subtle but distinct flavors could have been shared, but I did my best. Cocktails, wine, cafe, breads, and amuse busche were all timely and delicious.
