Crêperie Victor Hugo — Restaurant in Saintes

Very poor customer service. We took a table in front of the restaurant, which was empty. We asked for a menu. One menu was passed between three tables (both other tables arrived after us). We decided to order from the specials chalk-board so we wouldn’t have to wait on all of the other tables to view the menu. The waiter came to our table and we asked to order a galette, but he muttered something and walked away. Eventually he returned with the menu, and again we told him that the menu wasn’t necessary, we’d take the special galette. Only then did the waiter inform us that they had no galettes and only sweet options were available. Surely this could be mentioned when a customer arrives, or the specials...

Petite crêperie en zone piétonne dans la vieille ville !Service rapide, serveur souriant et agréable ! Doté d’une Terrasse pour l’été ! Décoration rustique, pierres de taille et morillons blancs, environs 20 tables à l’intérieur ! Wc propre, mais hyper petit. Je n’ai rien vue pour sécher les mains. En arrivant dans la salle, une odeur de fuel nous prend le nez mais j’avoue qu’on s’habitue vite et surtout il fait bon à l’intérieur, la salle est bien chauffée, ce qui compense. La livraison de fuel viens d’arriver donc c’est exceptionnel ! Et l’odeur n’est donc pas habituel je suppose.

Repas : une carte crêpes sucrés et salés avec du choix, en plus des salades repas. J’ai opté pour une salade folle avec du magret fumé et foie gras mi cuit. La présentation est belle et le foie gras et le magret sont d’excellents. Toutefois j’appelle pas ça une « salade repas » car la quantité qu’on pourrait attendre pour une salade repas, qui pour moi doit faire entrée et plat, n’est pas celle servie. D’où mon étoile en moins ! Après elle n’est pas chère non plus. Je payerais volontairement un peu plus pour une assiette plus remplie. Pour un bon mangeur il n’y a pas assez ! J’ai pris ensuite une crêpe Savoyarde, bien servie, grande et très bonne ! Cette petite crêperie vaut le détour, d’ailleurs la salle est pleine ce midi. Fantastic crepes in the heart of Saintes . Prices are fair and portions are good. The staff are friendly and supportive of those practicing their French. Menus in English are available, it was nice that they asked what language I would prefer the menu in. Their mocktails are pretty good and look the part. All in all a good all rounder.
