PUNJAB — Restaurant in Saintes

Oh dear. Someone, as yet to be formerly identified, advised us that this restaurant was a must. We ordered a take away. Chicken Tikka masala and a vindaloo.

To cut to the chase; I couldn't identify that either were in any way curries. Not a wiff, no curry flavour, nothing. The vindaloo was stew with potatoes. The masala was stew ( without potatoes ).

We ate here on New year's Eve and it was packed! On trying the food we could see why. We both had a Biryani and the portions were huge. The lamb one had big chunks of tender meat. The prawns in mine were large and plentiful. The staff were really friendly and spoke English. Definitely to try...

Excellent service and fabulous food. The prawn biriani was fresh tasting and the aubergine curry was delicious. Big portions, too. Good vegetarian and fish selections. We had to ask for papadoms as they weren't on the menu, and there were no pickles to...
