A wonderful restaurant run with the intensity and pride you can only hope for. Service is exceptional and run by locals rather than summer job kids from the mainland that many restaurants across the island staff. If you drop a fork, it is noticed. If you need more water, it is supplied. Immediately and with a smile. Every diner is waited on with care and diligence, and this attention to detail is also reflected in the food. The chicken, the boar, the veal, even the salad, are all exceptional. The sauces are divine! The potatoes bring shame to every potato you have previously eaten (and this is a big ask for the common potato!). Finish your meal of excellence with traditional aperitifs - try one or try all - they perfectly finish the meal. In a beautiful, unspoiled island, yet somehow dotted with tourist traps, Casa Corsa stands out for its ability to supply the unique island culture with sincerity and expertise. Porto Vecchio has several gems, but you will regret your visit if it does not include this restaurant. To drive the point home, my daughters commented on feeling badly for every person who paused to read the street side menu and kept walking! PS - they will even supply bug spray if you’ve discovered the local mosquitos have decided you are a...
Read moreAfter 2 tough weeks hiking the GR20 and dealing with grouchy refuge gardiens and our own questionable cooking, this was just what we needed. We were advised to try Casa Cross based on our want for 'authentic Corsican food', and were told to expect hearty food like your Grandmother makes.
First the staff allowed us in a good 30 minutes before opening time and then Frederick absolutely nailed it with the recommendations, I had the Broconcini of Corsican veal and sautéed potatoes, my father had the Cannelloni with brocciu and spinach and we shared a charcuterie with fromage. Not only was everything perfectly cooked, but the roast(?) potatoes and forest sauces were quite possibly the best that either of us had ever tried. We even got some complimentary Myrrtéi to round off the meal.
We can both only thank the Frederick and the chefs and other hosts at Casa Corsa for a truly special and memorable end...
Read moreI’m giving them one star only because it’s impossible to give zero. The food was overwhelmingly full of garlic to the point that I couldn’t even taste the meat — and that wasn’t even the worst part. The service, particularly from the tattooed waiter, was a complete disaster. We ordered a carafe d’eau, yet he brought us a €5.50 bottle of water without asking, clearly trying to trick tourists with these small tactics since the other waiter first brought us what we asked for.
To make things worse, none of us had asked for the bill, but he came over insisting we pay while we were still eating, without giving us the chance to finish our dishes or even review the check. All of us were even at the table at that moment, and we had to let people back in just to settle the bill. Despite this, the waiter returned to ask if everyone had paid, as if to...
