We chose this place for my birthday lunch, thinking it would be a nice spot with a good selection of sweets (my child even brought candles to make a little celebration with a cake). Unfortunately, we were met with extremely rude service right from the beginning.
While we were looking at the dessert display, the staff abruptly told us that desserts are not served during lunch. I thought there was a misunderstanding, so I clarified that we were here for lunch as well, not just dessert. However, the waiter dismissively rolled her eyes and repeated in an arrogant tone: “You only get lunch, no dessert. You can buy dessert and eat it somewhere else.”
The unwelcoming attitude completely ruined the atmosphere, and we decided to leave and look for a place where we’d actually feel appreciated. It also explained why this restaurant was nearly empty, while others nearby were almost full at the same time.
In the end, we bought the same cake from Ciccio down at the port, and the neighboring restaurant - where we enjoyed a truly delicious lunch - happily allowed us to bring it in. If Ciccio’s own restaurant can’t accommodate their cakes for guests celebrating a special occasion, but their neighbors can, that...
Read moreVERY POOR service: our waiter seemed agitated from the start, scowled when we asked to sit outside, rushed us through the menu choice, didn’t present the dish of the day, he spoke very fast and couldn’t be bothered to answer (when we asked what a certain type of meat was, his reply was ‘Corsican’ ) told us some things on the menu he couldn’t do “ah non je fais pas ca”, he was rude and dismissive. We felt we were intruding in his own house. The other waiters all seemed much more friendly. We waited a LONG time for our main course and when we were choosing desserts, this time with another waiter, he swooped in out of nowhere and swiped the last tiramisu from under our eyes. The main courses were good tho not exceptional, the location is pretty, the prices average to high but the whole experience thoroughly spoilt by someone who inflicted his bad mood and...
Read moreFantastic food, but absolutely awful service. What was the best food we had in Corsica was ruined by rude staff.
The staff was bickering throughout our meal and they were extremely unpleasant to us. They ignored us for 15 minutes and barked at us for asking for the menu after patiently waiting for them for 15 minutes. The waiters didn't get along with each other and kept on being rude to one another in front of guests (technically, one staff member was rude to the other one - it wasn't reciprocal). At least the staff member who served us knew a lot about food.
The food was fantastic - delicate and very well presented. The flavours pairings were perfect - try the "aubergine a la bonnifacienne" it was the...
