Le Paradis du Fruit — Restaurant in Torcy

The manager at this restaurant, Java, was quite possibly the rudest and most arrogant person we have ever come across in dining establishments.

When we first sat down, we were rudely told by Java to change to another table, despite the fact that the restaurant was virtually empty. We let this go and proceeded to order with our waiter making it clear that we are strictly vegetarian by religion, and hence, do not eat meat of any kind.

When we received our tomato and mozzarella toastie, my parents ate a few bites and were quite surprised by its smoky flavor. The "tomato" also looked a little light in color to me, so I opened the bread and found out that it was actually ham inside. It was the first time that my parents had ever eaten meat by accident, and being against our religion, they were naturally quite upset. Despite giving clear instructions, we understand that mistakes do happen and our waiter sincerely apologized for his error.

Java, however, was incredibly rude. He did not apologize even once, said that it's nothing to be upset or make a fuss about and told us that we would have to pay for the meal (which we did despite the fact that we left right after this, having only eaten a few bites of our food). A sincere apology could have diffused the whole situation, but he is an incredibly arrogant person that should not be in the hospitality business. We've never come across somebody like him and hope that no one...

I like the concept of this restaurant. In general they have original dishes, fresh food and fast service. Sadly this location has arrogant staff. I visited this week. The hottest week of the year and they had no airconditioning. It was so hot in there. And their Vegan Burger is NOT vegan. You have to ask to remove the spicy mayo and cheddar for it to be actually Vegan.

ERRATUM: After the response of the owner, it seems like the Vegan burger IS fully Vegan which is great news! When I went I consulted the waiter to ask for the cheddar and mayo and they told me it was not. So maybe they should be informed better as he even laughed at me when I asked the question as if I as asking a silly question. Nevertheless I am happy to know it is Vegan! Seems like airconditioning is turned off cause of covid measures. Fair enough...

Having visited Westfield La Défense yesterday and been totally bowled over this was a disappointing visit. Perhaps the staff are new and haven’t got to grips with what is expected. Putting a table right by the toilets doesn’t start things off well. I waited 20 minutes to order, and the dish (lobster) arrived relatively quickly. However, I wasn’t offered water and when I mentioned that putting paper under the dish meant that when cutting you ended up with paper in your food. This was dismissed. Obviously it’s a case of the customer being grateful to have been served and fed. A leaf needs to be taken from the team at La Defense. Such a shame that this was a very average meal with unenthusiastic staff. It was busy, but yesterday was extremely busy. No one seemed to be...
