La Sandia — Restaurant in Toulouse

After six weeks in France, I was seriously missing real Mexican food — and La Sandia came through in the best way possible. I went with a group of ten, and every single one of us left happy and full, which says a lot!

As a Mexican, I’ll admit I came in with low expectations. It’s not easy to find authentic or satisfying Mexican cuisine abroad, and portion sizes in France tend to be on the smaller side. But La Sandia blew me away — the food was flavorful, generous, and made with care. Every dish we tried was a hit.

I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the owners are Franco-Mexican, which explains the perfect balance of authenticity and accessibility in the menu. Been here for one night (professional reason). Staff is very pleasant, able to discuss in english. Ambiance and decoration are very gorgeous ! There's also a patio right in front of the canal to enjoy a sunny drink. Room is spacious, well laid out, and clean. To resume, the room you want to peacefully rest after a workday. After three weeks cycling in the Pyrenees, eating a steady diet of cheeses and cured meat, I longed for sone diversity in cuisine.

Friends in foix recommended La Sandia. I made a reservation, which I’d highly recommend.

I enjoyed the chef’s special of the night with was like an aubergine frittata. With rice and beans. Wonderful flavors. I asked for a side of spicy sauce, which had sone heat.

My special margaritas were wonderful, and the tequila gelato for dessert is a lovely capstone to the dining.
