Chez Lazare is conveniently located on Rue Satory which is a close walk to the main entrance of the Versailles Palace. Thankfully it was opened in this sleepy town during August, prime European vacation month.
Plat Du Jour (Lunch) In ordinary french fashion, there is a "plat du jour" special for lunch that includes a main dish (selection out of three options) and dessert (selection out of two options) for about 13 Euro. When I was there, the options for main dish included a vegetarian option, pork chops with apple glaze, and salmon lasagna. The pork chops were very well done although the portions were rather small (only one small pork chop).
Dinner: The dinner menu offers you combination deals of appetizer and dessert, main dish and dessert, and appetizer, main dish, and dessert (prices averaged to around 20 Euro). The portions are slightly larger than what you will receive at lunch. You can also order the main dish separately for 15 Euros and includes a side of your choosing (grilled vegetables, fries, baked potato, salad). I ordered the lamb chops which was extremely flavorful (recommended to me by the waitress). Our neighbor's order of moules (mussels) looked excellent and the portions were generous.
Chez Lazare is not to be missed during your trip to Versailles! Like at all restaurants in Europe, if you arrive at American dinner time, there will be no waiting whatsoever. Plus for us! Just don't arrive at Fei dinner time or else the restaurant will be closed (6:00 PM or...

Dinner was very interesting. It's very small and I needed to move anytime the server interacted with the table next to us. It didn't bother me, actually kind of enjoyed it as it have is reason to joke around with those patrons.
Everything is cooked on a grill in the main dining area so it was neat to see them preparing the food.
Food presentation was excellent. Everything looked really good. Unfortunately my steak was chewy, but I sort of think the beef may be raised differently in France... Probably better for the cows but not for tenderness of the meat. I could be wrong, but that's my guess. The taste was pretty good. The desserts were pretty good.
Overall, I liked a lot about the place. The servers were nice and the restaurant was super cute. The showmanship of the cooking and food arrangements were great. But the actual eating was okay but not the best I've had in my small amount of time in France. If I went back I'd probably try the salmon...
Read moreCool french restaurant/bar with authentic posters . Everything is charcoal grilled ( meat , chicken, porc and fish ). I went for the 3 course deal with the monthly red wine ( for 36 euros in total). The chicken spring rolls were super oily maybe i should have taken another entree. The rumsteak a point was chewy . The grilled veggies consisted of zucchini only abit disappointing ( go for the french fries better or grilled potatoes) . I wanted not to be full . As for desserts , the new york cheese cake was creamy and tasty but since they use spéculos as a base with that cinnamon taste i found the red fruits coulis did not match and i had it alone . But apparently the xxl profiteroles are their specialty but i am not a big fan of ice cream in puff pastries ( they have pistachio, sneakers and a 3rd flavor … ) . So my overall experience was average since i did not like texture of meat which is their...
