This restaurant is a real gem!! Absolutely delicious food, lively atmosphere, and friendly staff with stunningly rapid service!
We came here TWICE for dinner during a week’s visit to Versailles-Le Chesnay-Rocquencourt.
On the first visit, even though we walked in on a busy Friday evening without a reservation (usually expected in France), the manager found for us a table without any fuss. The service was exceptionally fast and friendly even on a busy Friday evening, and the food was delicious. To cut costs, we took advantage of the “Riva special” of ordering a main course (“plat principal”) and a dessert. The alternative Riva special is to order an appetizer (entree) and the main course (the “plat principal” - - confusingly called in the U.S. an “entree”).
The restaurant may want to consider adding a third special choice, at a higher fee, for entree, plat principal, AND a dessert.
The “penne poulet” or penne pasta with chicken was exceptionally succulent and delicious. To accompany my dish, I ordered a special Peroni reserve double malt blonde beer, on the manager’s recommendation, and my trust was well-placed! The restaurant has many innovative, enticing pizzas, and I eagerly await my next visits to RIVA DESTRA to sample them.
The tira misu, my choice on the fine dessert list, was one of the finest I have had.
On our last night of our visit to the area, we returned to RIVA DESTRA, and this time we made sure to call with a reservation. I had the Riva Bella pizza with salmon fumee (smoked salmon or “lox”), accompanied by the Peroni Reserve beer. The pizza was wonderful - - the best tasting pizza I have ever had! SUPERB!! My close friends/family ordered the special “formule” (formula)of penne poulet (penne chicken) that they had last time, with tira misu as a dessert. They loved it!
RIVA DESTRA offers an unforgettable and very affordable dining experience! It is great. The restaurant is open every day, as I was told, but reservations are advisable. Discerning inhabitants and visitors to the lively Versailles and chic Le Chesnay scene - - in searching the many fine restaurants that surround the environs of the big market area - - should give Ristorante Riva Destra Pizzeria a well-earned top spot on their list of top culinary destinations. We had the 4 cheese pizza , the fresh mozarella di buffalo and the salmon cheese one . The dough was thin with good toppings and a flavorful marina base sauce . Pour ce qui est des pizzas après avoir commander une « Big cheese theory » (4 fromages), j’ai eu la chance de recevoir une « Once Upon a Time » (jambon champignons). Au moment de payer, on m’annonce un tarif et je m’exécute pour le faire mais la petite voix dans ma tête me dit d’aller vérifier le montant, non il n’a pas fait ça quand même (spoil: si) j’ai payé la pizza que je n’avais pas commandé (spoil 2: plus cher bien sûr) le serveur était tout gêné, y’a de quoi. Vous pouvez penser que c’est fini, MAIS NON! Nous étions une table de 4, en miroitant le lendemain on se disait que le restaurant était quand même bien cher pour les autres.
