Batumi doesn’t have many choices for Vegan or vegetarian food. I like that you can customize a salad or smoothie bowl. I agree that the food is overpriced and some of it is rather bland, although a few dishes are tasty. My complaint is really about the service. I hadn’t finished my meal tonight and was asked to leave by the waitress at 7:59pm. I asked if I would be allowed to finish my salad. (The dressing and tofu were super bland so it wasn’t that good). She said that it depends on how much longer I needed and that she could box it up for me. I needed another ten minutes to finish my salad. But, I asked her to pack up my food because I felt uncomfortable knowing that she wanted to go home so much that I was asked to box up my food and go. While she was packing my salad, I decided to call Bolt to leave as soon as possible, try and be considerate of the time. I said hello loudly to get their attention so that I could ask the address of the restaurant. This was not a big deal. I thought that I could get the attention of the chef or waitress and they could quickly tell me the address so that I could expedite my departure from their establishment. I was ignored and then waitress with long blonde hair came to the table and rudely told me off and said that I was being impatient about the to go box. I explained to her that I wasn’t trying to get her attention for that and that I just wanted to get the address, it had nothing to do with my salad. I said that she misunderstood me and owed me an apology. She disagreed that she misunderstood and disagreed that she should apologize, and said that she thought that it was rude that she wasn’t home yet. I looked at the time at that moment. It was only 8:04pm, four minutes after they closed. This was my third time there. I like to support these types of places. I appreciate what they are trying to do to make vegan food available here. I wanted to eat somewhere that the food would make me feel good after the meal instead of giving me a stomach ache. However, the waitress was out of line, which ruined my dining experience, and had already felt rushed to eat from the moment that she served me and told me that they closed at 8pm. I won’t go back there due to...
Read moreIn my opinion, this place has gone downhill compared to the quality of food and service they offered a few years ago. I asked for the most filling option and was recommended the 500ml Tom Yum soup bowl, which looked promising on the menu. The soup was tasty. Unfortunately, it wasn’t filling at all: about 90% of it was just broth, with only a few pieces of tomato and tofu, leaving me still hungry. I was especially surprised since I know Cafe Soya sells a kilo of their homemade tofu for 7 GEL nearby, so I expected the soup to be much more generous with it, but that wasn’t the case.
On the positive side, I did enjoy the drink - their homemade rose hip tea without sugar was really nice.
The service was also great: helpful, friendly, and attentive. The staff member suggested I look through two guest sketchbooks filled with drawings and notes while waiting for my order. I really enjoyed flipping through the pages and seeing everyone’s creativity. I’ll even attach my favorite one.
One thing I felt uncomfortable with was the bathroom, which is located right next to the kitchen. If I could clearly hear the staff talking and cooking while inside, I’m sure they could hear guests just as clearly from the bathroom, which was a bit awkward.
It’s unfortunate that we’ve lost what used to be such a...
Read moreGood cafe, but no surprises in the menu: tofu and falafel burgers and wraps, salad constructor, some pasta options, soup of the day. The soup was okay (a bit undersalted and lacking spices), the salad bowl with selected ingredients (cucumber, tomato, pepper, avocado, tofu, falafel, pesto sauce) ended up somewhat lacking in taste. Personally I’m not a big fan of “construct your dish yourself” stuff, just wanted a satisfying salad. Smoothies were very good. My gf ordered a tofu burger, it was okay, but tofu slice was bland in taste, too. Potatoes on the side were tasty though, especially with sweet chili sauce. Overall, a good place to have lunch, just make sure you “construct” a better salad...
