The first time we went there, the food arrived in under 10 minutes although the restaurant was full and it was delicious. We went there immediately the next day. This time the restaurant was not very busy. We ordered and we had to wait 50 minutes for our pizza. We noticed a lot of the people had to wait more time and they got kind of irritated. Finally, when the pizza arrived, it was cold. I immediately told the waitress and she took the pizza to the kitchen. Then she brought back the pizza by warming it up for a few minutes. It was still not hot. If the pizza is hot, you get exactly a 10 minutes to eat and enjoy it. But if the pizza is lukewarm, the pizza becomes inedible after 2/3 minutes. I told two waiters 3 times when they asked 'How is the food?" and all they could say was "We will notify the kitchen." They never apologized. If an expensive pizza place is serving cold pizza, then they should not charge 15 euros for 1 pizza. If the pizza becomes cold before serving, bring a new pizza. You cannot warm a pizza and serve it.

They actually serve one of the best pizza in Aachen, but you have to be extremely lucky to get to try their good pizza. Unfortunately, we had to wait for around 50minutes or so. Still we were okay but when the pizzas arrived, it was lukewarm and turned cold soon. When we told the stuffs, they only said, "yeah, we have a lot of orders in the kitchen". Okay, I can understand. May be that's why food was late but then how can be it cold? They were not even sorry. When we were paying , they offered us something like free for drinks or discount on drinks. I was quite annoyed by this. Like, come on!!! Take the responsibility. Offering free stuffs does not cancel out what went wrong. Their pizza is quite expensive but i am willing to pay because good stuffs cost money, quality costs money. But where is the quality then?!

Additionally, the non-alcoholic drink options were lackluster, failing to complement the meal. Overall, while Gold of Naples has potential with its prime location and pleasant ambience, the lack of adequate staffing, mediocre food quality, and high prices leave much to be desired.

I shall try to describe the evening just as it truly was, for it was one of those rare nights that linger in one’s memory.

The service was simply remarkable, warm, attentive and sincere. We began the evening with a bottle of Primitivo red wine, the perfect way to ease into a night of good food and good company. The waiter, ever so thoughtful, brought us two glasses of water alongside the wine, though we had not asked for them, as if he had sensed that we were just about to. Such a small gesture, yet so effortlessly kind.

When it came to ordering we were uncertain at first. The waiter suggested the vegetarian antipasti platter, explaining that a fine wine deserves a fine beginning. We took his advice and it was nothing short of love on a plate. Every bite felt like a gentle prelude to something special.

For the main course, as I mentioned, I had the gluten free pizza while my wife enjoyed the ricotta and spinach lasagne. The background music filled the room with a kind of quiet magic, timeless classics, the sort we often hear in Manchester. It was almost surreal to hear them here in Aachen of all places and yet it felt perfect.

Then something extraordinary happened. The waiter began to sing. I cannot quite recall how it began or what prompted it but what followed was nothing short of breathtaking. His voice was beautiful, soulful and strong, and for a moment the entire restaurant seemed to pause, held by that melody.

To end the evening we were surprised with a panna cotta on the house, a sweet graceful finish to a night already filled with warmth and joy.

Altogether it was an evening I shall not soon forget, the perfect ending to our little journey to Aachen, and one that left us with memories I will carry for a long time. My deepest gratitude goes to the restaurant and above all to the waiter, whose kindness and charm made the evening truly unforgettable. I will be sure to recommend this place to friends in England so that those coming from Manchester may experience the same...

Hohe Erwartungen, die zu einem großen Teil getroffen worden. Wir würden wiederkommen, um die anderen Pizzen auszuprobieren und hoffen, dass unsere Anmerkungen konstruktiv aufgefasst werden.

Auf das Restaurant aufmerksam geworden bin ich, als es noch im Bau war. Schon damals ließ sich eine Tendenz zu einer geschmackvollen Einrichtung erkennen, die sich bei unserem Besuch bewahrheitet hat.

Der Kontext: Ein Abendessen mit drei Freunden/ Freundinnen, allesamt kulinarisch recht interessiert.

Der Empfang: Wir kommen etwas zu spät, werden freundlich an unseren reservierten Tisch gefühlt und fühlen uns wohl.

Service: Sehr aufmerksam, gab uns die Zeit, die wir brauchten, war aber trotzdem immer im richtigen Moment da. Nach dem Vorspeisenteller wurden wir gefragt, ob wir die Pizza gleich möchten oder erst später - Pizza war dann nach fünf Minuten da. Sehr lobenswert!

Die Getränke: Raffinierte Karte, viele verschiedene Gins, drei Craft-Biere, leckere hausgemachte Limonaden (Limette-Minze und etwas mit Rosmarin). Serviert in schönen Gläsern.

Die Vorspeise: Wir haben einen vegetarischen Vorspeisenteller geteilt, der außerordentlich gut bei uns ankam. Sehr leckere Büffelmozzarella auf Rucola, gegrillter grüner Spargel und weiteres gegrilltes Gemüse, Oliven, Brot mit Tapenade und Tomaten, Parmesan-/Granasplitter, getrocknete Tomaten, etwas deplatzierte Gurkenscheiben, Artischockenherz. Ein Lob dafür.

Die Pizzen (Pesto, Calabrese, Salsiccia e Friarielli): Generell waren wir von den ausgerufenen Preisen überrascht, die bis 14,50 € für Calabrese (mit Nduja und Kürbiscreme) oder Gold of Naples (mit Mortadella und Pistazie in verschiedenen Formen) oder bis 11,50 € für vegetarische Optionen gehen (einfachere sind günstiger). Sportlich für Aachen, aber bei hochwertigen Zutaten nachvollziehbar.

Der Teig war bei allen Pizzen tadellos (pizza napoletana eben, eher luftig).

Die Pesto-Pizzen waren geschmacklich sehr intensiv (für manche Person vielleicht zu sehr), das Pesto sehr lecker. Mit den getrockneten und frischen Tomaten ein sehr schönes Zusammenspiel.

Bei der Pizza Calabrese war das Nduja das Highlight, angenehme Schärfe. Die Kürbiscreme auf der Pizza schien uns schon auf der Karte eine etwas seltsame Kombination: Tatsächlich ging sie durch die Schärfe der Nduja etwas unter. Vielleicht würde Pistazie besser dazu passen, weil sie durch ihren Fettanteil etwas die Schärfe nimmt. Diese Pizza war unser Favorit, besonders auch durch die saftigen und zahlreichen Tomaten.

Bei der Pizza Salsiccia e Friarielli fiel uns zunächst auf, dass die Salsiccia in dicken Scheiben auf der Pizza verteilt wird. Für mich unüblich, aus Italien kenne ich das in der Regel so, dass die Salsiccia (ist ja eine Art grobe Bratwurst mit Gewürzen wie Fenchel) quasi ausgepresst wird und die kleineren Stückchen auf der ganzen Pizza verteilt werden. Durch die dicken Scheiben verteilt sich der Salsiccia-Geschmack nicht auf der ganzen Pizza, was dazu führt, dass die Symbiose aus Salsiccia und Friarielli („Rübstiel“) nicht wirklich entstehen kann. Schade, denn sowohl die Salsiccia und die verwendeten Friarielli waren für sich sehr schmackhaft, man müsste sie nur besser zusammenbringen.

Auch auf den Pizzen wird zum Teil Büffelmozzarella verwendet (sonst Fior di Latte), das ist zunächst sehr gut. Allerdings war vom typischen Geschmack nicht mehr viel übrig, nachdem die Pizza einmal komplett (auch wenn offenbar, typisch für pizza napoletana, nur sehr kurz) durch den heißen Ofen gereist ist. Vielleicht könnte man den Zeitpunkt, an dem die Büffelmozzarella auf die Pizza gelegt wird, nach hinten (oder sogar solo a fine cottura?) verschieben, damit die Gäste dieses Lebensmittel in seiner ganzen Geschmacksvielfalt kosten können? Nachdem wir die sehr gute Büffelmozzarella von der Vorspeise probiert hatten, schien uns das wirklich eine Verschwendung.
