Eiscafé Serafin — Local services in Aachen

Very rude staff, especially towards foreigners, it seems. I went in to try their ice cream and ordered two scoops to compare it with other local shops. They had two small tables in front of the shop, and since I was carrying bags, I sat down to finish my ice cream. Immediately, the person behind the counter yelled at me, saying, "Excuse me, you can’t sit if you bought takeaway ice cream. Sitting is an extra service and you need to ask for it."

I was shocked and embarrassed, especially because this happened in front of other people. I apologized, but I felt genuinely hurt by how aggressive the response was. I don’t think it’s a big deal if a customer wants to sit for a few minutes to finish their ice cream — I’ve never experienced such poor customer service anywhere before.

I will definitely not return to this shop and will share my experience with others as well. It’s easy to lose customers, but building trust and a good reputation takes time and effort. Ice cream is good I like the fruit paticles inside but i had to pay 2 eur for each scoop because the ones i had had price differences which other ice cream shops dont have it. We were there on 12.06.2022. This is a small place with a small shop front. There are couple of chairs outside and as far as i could see, nothing inside. The ice cream is alright; average I would say. I have had far better ones. There are not much varieties. We went here based on the reviews, but I would not be going back. The owner (or at least the one served us) can speak English. Please be aware, 'to go' means you really have to go and not allowed to sit on the chairs outside even when there is no one around. Maybe it is a cultural difference or maybe due to Aachen being a touristic place. It appears that you got to pay a different price, for the same thing, if you sit on those few chairs. I would only post this because of the inflexible attitude we had encountered. Me and my friend were with our kids and the kids decided to have ice cream in waffle. And we decided to have as take away, we did not know it is not allowed to set outside with the cones It is ok , I can understand So we decided to have another order as dine in And guess what! He refused to take our order and he refused to let us set as we have already ordered an ice cream waffles to go !!! I don’t know why an ice cream shop, mostly will be having kids as clients have such unpleasant and inflexible attitude towards clients

Though my house is near , I would rather go in a far shop with my son, than dealing with such...
