Akiko Sushi — Restaurant in Berlin

Believe me, I know good sushi and this place does NOT serve it. The nori (seaweed) is not crispy and fresh, the rice is bland and the different fillings are nothing to rave about. I couldn't even taste the eel, there was so little in the roll. The fried sushi tasted like it could be fried anything. The spicy tuna was not spicy, the soy sauce is watered down...I could go on and on. The service is terrible - you are ignored and not served well. The place is very cramped and loud. The miso soup was the only thing that was of good quality. This place used to be good a long time ago and now just thrives on its name and people who do not...

We made a reservation as in the evening it can be pretty crowded in the small place. When we got there we were asked if we wouldn't mind to wait for a few minutes at the bar until our table would get free. In this few minutes we decided what to order. And shortly after we were seated, the miso soup already came. Had a really nice stay there. Friendly and welcoming stuff, good sushi and nice prices. Also, you can order food and pick it up alone (the price is reduced if you pick it up alone) or you can just drop by and order and in a few minutes you have your sushi ready to take with you. 😊🍣 Arigato...

The food was good and very decently priced. I asked for menu 11. The presentation could have been better and I agree with other critics of this place that it would be more hygienic to have the wasabi and ginger served in single portions with your food as opposed to a big pot that has been sitting there for weeks getting watery. It was so cramped up in there I just didn't enjoy myself. People around you can hear every word you say.
