Ristorante Piazza Venezia — Restaurant in Berlin

Staff is super friendly, the street and surroundings very green and soothing. I ordered the fish soup and red beet gnocchi. Two simple dishes. First, the fish soup came out burnt with a big scampi that had its time a long while ago. It made my stomach turn immediately. Luckily the friendly staff noticed and asked what I wanted in return. I asked for a salad, which came with salmon, which was not too bad but again, with that taste of barbecue burn, and wet with olive oil. Perhaps German people like it that way but it killed all the fresh flavours of the product. Then came the gnocchi of red beet with mascarpone and walnut. It was interesting but oh so heavy, again swimming needlessly in oil and vinegar. The taste of the red beet was overshadowed by the big grated parmezan icing. I would recommend the chef to go easy on the oil, add herbs like sage or ruccola, lighten it up, not heavy it down with more cheese. I did have an interesting conversation about it with the host and got a free desert, a nice strawberry tiramisu made without coffee. The coffee I added myself. The menu does have some very nice grappas. All in all, I can recommend it but stay away...

Ein Abend in der Piazza Venezia: Alles auf den Punkt!

Freunde hatten uns das Ristorante Piazza Venezia in der Zimmermannstraße 7 in Berlin-Steglitz empfohlen. Es sei „ganz großartig“. Den Freunden ist zu trauen, also überwanden wir unsere Scheu vor für uns neuen Restaurants, zu oft erlebten wir Reinfälle. Und was soll an einem „Italiener“ schon Besonderes sein, wir haben weltweit bestimmt 100 erlebt.

Um es kurz zu machen: Die Piazza Venezia schaffte es auf Anhieb in unsere Top 5 der italienischen Restaurants in Deutschland. Und sie weist Eigenschaften auf, die in der hiesigen, erst recht in der Berliner Gastronomie immer seltener werden. Damit ist sie sehr weit vorne. Eigentlich alles Punkte, die man von einem guten Restaurant allemal und immer erwarten darf, aber genau das schleicht sich wohl langsam aus ...

Ein sehr gediegener optischer Ersteindruck. Die Einrichtung, die Farben, die Ausstattung, alles angenehm weich, freundlich, gemütlich: Hier möchte man gerne bleiben. Dezente, gute, leise Musik, ein sehr freundlicher, uneitler Empfang, das Geleit zum Tisch. Weißes Tischtuch, Stoffservietten, frische Blumen, gutes Olivenöl und ein Klasse Balsamico auf dem Tisch. 100 Punkte.

Wunderbar professionelle Kellner, die sich dezent zurückhalten, dennoch stets alles sehen, freundliche, ältere Herren am Rande eines seniorig-erfahrenen Understatements. Wir haben lange nicht mehr einen solchen Service erlebt.

Eine Karte, die es trifft: Gut ausgewogen, nicht zu viel, nicht zu abgehoben wenig. Dazu eine Tageskarte. Italienische Standards. Diese aber exzellent ausgeführt. Auch die Portionen nicht zu groß, nicht zu klein. Alles sehr auf den Punkt. Exzellente Küche! Der Hauswein war ausgewogen und passend gut. Natürlich ein Grappa – und zwar ein ausgezeichneter Sauvignon Blanc – aufs Haus.

Preislich gehoben, aber fair und vor allem passend. Für drei Gänge, Wein und den üblichen Kleinkram zahlten wir zu zweit gerne 70 € pro Person.

Zum Abschluß noch ein Plausch mit dem Inhaber, der sich professionell gut, insbesondere um seine neuen Gäste kümmerte. Er berichtete von der sehr anstrengenden Historie, das Restaurant zu dem zu machen, was es heute ist, und – noch anstrengender – über zwei Jahre Corona hinweg am Leben zu halten. Der Mann macht das mit Herzblut und Passion.

Tucked away from the main street is this gem of an Italian restaurant. Right from the outside, seeing the white table cloths transported me to Italy.

The food felt authentic and was fresh and delicious. We've had the Salmon salad, delicious pastas and great drinks.

I enjoyed this place very much in both service and food. What touched me the most is seeing how well the restaurant staff accommodated a chair-bound patron next to us. The place isn't the largest, but they made sure they were comfortable and we'll accommodated.
