The ambience is really nice. Really like the setup. But although the heater was on it was really cold.
I went there with some colleagues to show them the Gambian kitchen. The food was super delicious and we shared all the dishes. Really loved the plantain starter and the pie. The waiter was patient and gave good advice and understood how to serve the food best so we could share everything. We loved the peanut sauce (Domoda) and mustard sauce (Yassa) dishes! The Makrele fish was also really tasty!! I was positively surprised by there desserts. Usually not a big fan but we tried this dessert with baobab and couscous. That's my kinda thing. A bit sour and sweet. Yum! And the banana bread was great. But these sweet puff puffs. A dream!!
What I also really appreciate is the story of this place and all the things they do. Check their website:)
Definitely coming back. Support...
Read moreHow is it possible I’m finding this little gem only now! I loved everything from the friendliness when I booked through email, the cosy and warm environment, professional and kind staff, not to talk about the food of course. Small menu, but all is good. I had the mackerel benachin (excellent, it reminded me of Senegalese Thieboudienne) and plantains with onion sauce. My mum would have also loved to have benachin but only one portion was left. She ended up ordering the domoda with beef (basically Senegalese mafè), which was also delectable. Portions are okay, though I would have eaten a little bit more rice. Bissap as a drink was fantastic! 🌺 ✨ no alcohol served but you can BYOB and payment with card accepted. It was sooooo good and also very good value for money. Can’t wait to go back! Keep on the excellent work guys! One of my new favourites in Berlin...
Read moreA local gem in the schlessi area serving up some very homely unpretentious food from several African countries and run by the Bantabaa community.
The meals are very well priced and filling, always with friendly and warm service.
The okra sauce with rice is definitely the best here but there's several strong contenders including the peanut sauce and spinach with rice, and the "jollof rice" with chicken.
They also make some really great homemade pies that come out hot and fresh.
The chili sauce here definitely has a big kick to it, but goes incredibly well with almost everything on the menu.
The tamarind lemonade and baobab lemonade are great companions to that...
