The hostel boat was clean and reasonably comfortable, situated in a great location with good transport links. The cabin was small but nice, although we left the windows open and, as a consequence, were bitten several times by what I presume were mosquitoes. (We were later told that there were mosquito nets available on request, but it was a little late then). The boat does sway (unsurprisingly), which can be initially disconcerting when standing, but isn't perceptible when lying in bed. One word of caution to the tall, I am 6'4" (193cm) and I found that my head was scraping against the ceiling on the lower deck and in the cabin. The staff were courteous and spoke English well; in particular, I would like to single out Arthur, who was extremely knowledgeable about the local area and Berlin as a whole. He went above and beyond to provide suggestions about the must-see sights (even going as far as to help us book a tour of the Reichstag), local markets, temporary exhibitions, and restaurants, bars and clubs in the area. When I booked the room, a picture of a room with wooden floors/parkett was shown and cute little beds, however, the truth was far from it. The room I received had an old carpet, unattraktiv bed, and there was much room for improvement in the room. It looked done without care and put together with old furniture. There also seems to be no insulation to the next rooms. I felt lucky to have had quiet neighbours.

The toilet and the showers need serious renovation. Everything is old and run down. Very far from a 5 star experience as advertised.

One should also know that there is a party bar on the other side of the river, opposite the ship. The windows of the room/s don't keep the sound out, so.. if you are not the kind to listen to a blast until 12 at night on a Saturday, then this is not the place to stay. In general, it is a noisy environment where the ship is located as people also gather on the grass around it.
