In terms of location: Just on the east side, viewing the wall and across the river is the west. Within walking distance of some of the most iconic wall art. It's in an area that I think was formally part of the "dead zone", so it's all new and recently built. The pro of this is lots of restaurants, Starbucks, grocery, etc. The con is that it is lacking any local feel (I almost could be convinced that I was in the US). Great transportation close by.
In terms of the hotel: new, very clean, well appointed rooms. No complaints about the room or bathroom set up (however, one major complaint down below).
In terms of breakfast: not sure if it's worth the price tag for paying out of pocket, but it was decent and if it's included in your room rate, you'll enjoy the offerings.
COMPLAINT: our AC didn't work from the moment we arrived. We asked for help on day one, they said they would look into it. There was never any communication made regarding if it was broken, etc. Day two, we asked for help again. They said they were booked and could not move us (we didn't ask to be moved, we just wanted them to look at it), and they said they would look into it. Again, nothing happened and no response. Day 3: we asked for a fan. They said they didn't have fans and offered us breakfast for the next day. They again said they'd look into it, but nothing changed and there was zero communication. Day 4-6 we gave up and sweated it out in the room. It was early September, so it was still warm enough that some sort of air movement was needed.
With the windows open it was very loud, since our room faced a plaza, there was loud holiday-makers all night long. So not only was it hot and stuffy, it has hard to sleep.
Moral of the story: If your very new hotel AC is broken, and you can't keep it running, you need to have fans for your guests. Staying on a high floor with no AC wasn't fun. I know as an American I value AC more than an average European client, but I am sure anyone would have wanted a fan.
If you cannot communicate well, you lose points in my book. If someone has to ask 3 times for help and does not get as much as a note or follow-up, there's a problem.
I would say thumbs up to staying there, but with the warning that you should pray your AC works or demand to be...

I don’t normally write reviews like this, but the experience my girlfriend and I had at Hotel Indigo Berlin was so appalling, I feel obligated to warn others.
Before our stay, I proactively emailed the hotel to let them know that my girlfriend would be arriving earlier than me. I provided her full name, details, and confirmation information. The hotel acknowledged this in writing and assured me everything would be fine.
But when she arrived, she was treated like absolute garbage by a woman at the front desk — patronized, denied access to the room we had already paid for, and made to feel like an unwelcome intruder. Despite the prior arrangements, this staff member refused to honor them, acting as if my girlfriend’s presence was somehow suspicious or illegitimate.
The result? She was forced to wander the city for nearly 8 hours with her luggage, tired and humiliated. She had to spend her own money to keep herself occupied and safe — when she should’ve been allowed to check in, drop her things, and rest. This wasn’t just poor service — it was dehumanizing and cruel.
Later that day, two gentlemen at the front desk — whose names I wish I had, because they were genuinely kind and helpful — made a real effort to help and smooth things over. To them, I’m sincerely grateful. They were the only redeeming part of this entire ordeal.
But the damage had already been done.
To make matters worse, I wrote to the hotel management three weeks ago asking for an explanation and some form of compensation. Not even a courtesy reply. No apology, no acknowledgment, total radio silence. The complete lack of accountability is disgraceful and speaks volumes about their values.
This experience disrupted our trip and left a terrible taste in both our mouths. Hotel Indigo Berlin may have a nice aesthetic, but behind the scenes is a culture of negligence and disrespect.
Do better. And to others: I suggest you...
Read moreOur stay at the hotel was beyond exceptional in every possible way. Berlin was the last leg of a long trip and our stay at the hotel made it the cherry on top of a vacation to remember. Here is what we thought : Staff: I can’t thank the hotel’s staff enough, they really set high standards for hospitality. They were extremely kind, responsive and accommodating. It felt like we were guests in their home. Firstly, they were quick to answer our queries regarding Covid regulations via email prior to our arrival, which helped us plan our trip smoothly & comfortably. Upon our arrival we were met with an extremely welcoming reception staff (hello, Luigi!) and a special surprise since we were traveling for our honeymoon. The entire team was very helpful during the duration of our stay (7 days) up until checkout (hello, Madeline!) Rooms and cleanliness: we were given a really nice spacious room, being someone who’s picky about cleanliness I rarely feel this comfortable at hotels. The room was very clean, the bed very comfortable and the linens were clean and felt new. I personally appreciated the funny note under the bed indicating that it had been vacuumed, it reflects the hotel’s extra attention to detail. The room also had a view overlooking both the arena and the river which was very nice. Breakfast: a wide variety of food with different dietary options were made available. We were welcomed by very nice restaurant staff that made the experience much nicer every morning. Location: the hotel is very nicely situated in a vibrant neighborhood near the river and a walking distance away from two well-connected train stations. All in all, we had a very pleasant experience and would definitely choose the hotel again for our future visits to Berlin. We would highly recommend the hotel to our friends, family and anyone reading this review and considering the hotel. Thank you team...
