BLOCK HOUSE Bikini Am Zoo Palast — Restaurant in Berlin

One star for today because I’m a usual customer there (1-2 times a week). But if I wanted to rate it according to my experience today I would’ve given it a zero or even lower.

The waitress ( I will keep the name to myself) came and as I was ordering a bottle of wine, I asked if they have other kinds. Her answer was literally „ only what it says on the menu!“ but in German of course and in a very cold manner and without looking at me, so I asked her again and told her that is no way to answer a customer’s question, and that I’m expecting a yes or no answer. After that we ordered steaks and my brother asked her about which steak is medium and which is medium well (just incase he missed it, and it was a very honest question since 3 steak orders were the same cut), and her answer was „each will get what they ordered!“ so I asked her to not serve us and send someone else. Unfortunately he was as bad (to make a long story short). I ended up going to the manager and explaining everything to him, he was very professional, respectful and nice and he ended up serving us himself.

I don’t know why the waitress and waiter acted the way they did, because we are foreigners? And some of us didn’t speak the language well? (Although we had a German friend there as well) It certainly seemed that way.

Either way it was a bad experience overall. But the professional management succeeded in keeping me as a customer, as I actually love their food as well, but definitely not in this branch. If this happens again I will consider taking...

Rather below average experience. The meat was a bit sour. I asked for medium- well done but it was quite rare in the middle and I left most of the meat.

The waiter could have been a bit more friendly. No smile whatsoever.

He gave us the menu in German knowing that we couldn't understand German. Another waiter came to give us the English version later.

When it came to paying for the bill, I was about to pay but the first waiter was like 'is that what you are going to pay?' . So I was confused and I said the bill is what I'll be paying. But he asked me again. Then I understood that he wanted me to pay a tip. So I asked how much tip? He said that I can pay whatever. So I ended up being coerced into paying for the 10% tip even though it isn't mandatory in Germany.

Overall, not the best experience. Not too bad, but not excellent either. Very average steakhouse let down by...

So, where do i begin. First of all the the service was great, the staff was friendly. The location it self was comfortable and the bathrooms where rather clean. The food was served quickly. The salad was great, the dressing, the ingredients, everything fitted just fine. But sadly i cant say so much good things about the steak. The quality of the meat was good and it was at most parts evenly cooked in the way you ordered it. But sadly it has no taste. It was poorly seasoned and also only from one side. Salt was completely missing on the steak and it tasted like it was seasoned after grilling. The meat it self had nit really much taste and due to the fact that it was only seasoned from one side the overall steak lacked in taste.
