One of the best cafés in East Berlin, it is perfect not only for enjoying delicious cakes (such as marzipan cake) and high-quality coffee at affordable prices, but also for immersing yourself in the history of the street, which was once the Champs-Élysées of the GDR. The café has a free exhibition dedicated to the history of the construction of Karl Marx Alley, where I go every month and learn something new! For example, I recently found an ear and a pice of mustache from the statue of Stalin, which stood a few dozen metres from the café! A special thank you to the team at this café, they are the nicest and kindest people I have ever met in Berlin! Thank you so much! Conclusion: this is a very underrated place with an...

Slow and extremely grumpy staff! I eventually go to the counter to order but they “only take orders at the table”. Strange, really - since someone else just ordered at the counter? Ok, my bad - so I sit down and wait. Eventually she arrives, no smile, just a “what”. I order but cancel immediately after she doesn’t say a word when she leaves the table in a less than friendly manner. This is terrible service and no way to run a waited table café. Sorry, but You need to do better than this to get better reviews. I can see that I am not alone with my experience. Avoid this...

Where else in the world can you go to a cafe that doubles up as a museum that hosts regular monthly events? As their website indicates, Café Sybille was first opened in 1953 under the name "Milchtrinkhalle" and was really popular since day one. We went for coffee, cake, ice cream and a look around while my father was visiting. I would highly recommend this cafe as a perfect place to bring international guests and visiting friends / family. The service was good. I've taken one point off for the menu not being up-to-date and in need of a reprint.

We had breakfast that felt more like brunch on a weekend in this place. We felt attracted by the place's historic vibe, as it is not only placed in Karl-Marx-Alle, but the decoration and atmosphere are preserved from the DDR times. It even has some explanations about how the avenue was built and how the apartments in it were. That said, the breakfast was excellent. Large in size, tasty and well prepared. The service was super nice and we really enjoyed our breakfast there. I hope when we come back it stays the same.
