A very cosy spot for breakfast and brunch, friendly, attentive and cool staff. Lovely design inside. The pancakes and shakshuka are unbelievably good. Still the best of both I've had in Berlin after living here for years. The perfect cure for a hangover or if you just love good food. I would reccomend getting both to share with a friend or alternatively if you have a large stomach get both. The pancakes are fluffy yet with a slight crunch with just the right amount of toppings and sweet condiments such as fruits, maple syrup and bacon if you're a meat eater. The crispy bacon itself is a little too nice, something Berlin seems to struggle with dearly. The sweetness and portion size is perfect yet I can always eat some more since they're so good.
The Shakshuka is flavourful and rich with a little hint of heat that is just right. So many other places just have runny tomatoes with little taste. As mentioned previously these are the best I've had still. Poached eggs are colourful and very tasty too complimenting the whole dish. The dipping bread is fresh and nicely toasted. None of that usual stale rubbish at other places. A nice addition of sheets cheese and a light amount of cilantro finish it off nicely. Wish I could have it as a nutritional and healthy breakfast every day!
Pretty good coffee too although the matcha late I had recently was not overly strong on the matcha but that might just be how they do it here.
Overall I just love Dots, I reccomend it to all my close friends as a secret tip. If only I lived closer as I would be here much more often. The kitchen closes at 3pm which is a shame as I've tried to show friends this place but have turned up late. I understand of course but I definitely wouldn't complain if Dots also became a late lunch kind of place. So for now I would reccomend to get here early so you can grab a good space and go to town on their...
Read moreWent to meet friends for brunch here, they told me they waited 30mins before any contact from staff.
After finally ordering and bringing this to the attention of the staff our group received a rude comment from a male staff member.
Some minutes later, another member of staff came out and apologized in the least sincere way possible for the "misunderstanding".
Upon bringing out our food, the same staff member who made the comment made another a-hole comment to our group, offering to "help us read the menu" (in reference to the fact that we had not noticed on the bottom of one of the menu pages there is a small note that the cafe is self-service).
Ironically, cafe's current policies of self-service are not in compliance with current COVID-19 regulations in Berlin, and they could actually be reported to Ordnungsamt for this.
Food: BLAT & Avocado Hummus were both bland, over-sauced, and messily made. Bacon partially undercooked. Pancakes were decent.
Worst part overall the absolute rudeness and ineptitude of the restaurant staff. Won't waste money there again...
Read moreIn a quiet street you find this amazing place called DOTS. I’ve been here twice now and would recommend it to anyone. They have great coffees, with OATLY or Sproud perfectly for vegans. I enjoyed the vegan pancakes, the Granola bowl and the Hummus Shakshuka (vegan option). I enjoy the vibe in this place: the staff really operates as a team and they visibly enjoy working here, even when it’s really busy. So if there’s a line: please be patient and let these heroes do their work. The waiting is really worth it. While you wait for your food, enjoy the music and the diversity of people visiting this place, relax and enjoy. This place knows how to connect the dots for a perfect experience. I wish to come back soon! Love from the...
