I travel a lot and like to explore the off beaten path in particular. I'd rather get to know the culture as if I were one to actually live there. So I found this local watering hole as it was early and nobody but the bartender sitting outside enjoying what was left of a beautiful summer's day in Berlin. At first I thought he was a patron but then realised after he walked behind the bar what his role was to be in my new adventure. He was friendly and helpful when I began to ask him a series of questions about the vibe of the bar, it's patrons, the neighborhood, et cetera. A couple of people showed up and then his colleague who later became another significant actor in this ensemble. We all said hello to each other and the two bartenders needed to transfer a stock of wine cases to the cellular below the bar. So, I offered to help by suggesting we form a brigade with me behind the bar, one at The bottom of the steps, and the other placing the stock in it's location below. Thus, I began to share one my adventuresous stories about my life in the food and beverage, and nightclub business in Europe, the US, and the Caribbean. Then I spoke about my earlier years in the entertainment industry. Later the subject changed to women and one particularly dangerous love affair...I dare say no more. It was great to see their enthusiasm in allowing me to share with them these adventures of mine. They made me feel welcomed with their genuine kindness. When it was time for me to go I felt like I made two new friends. I will return and I will look forward to hearing from them this next time, what adventuresome antics they've encountered since. Thank you Laurids and Marian! You reminded me of my younger self. I wish you both many exciting adventures yet to come....
Read morethe vibe was really nice but The two girls bartenders were talking with 2 guys (clients) in the bar, they didn’t clean the tables I had to ask for paper and bring all the dirty glasses of the table before me, they asked for the last round at 1 am and I asked why it was the last round when google says it closes at 4am and she told me it was not too full to continue open and there were 7 tables of people drinking and they were not letting any more people order. I literally saw people wanting to order and they were only focused on flirting with this guys and they were refusing to do more drinks. No one could understand how the place was full and they were not serving and calling last round so early. Of course all the tables ended up leaving, I had more friends coming over and I saw new people arriving to the bar and telling them it was closed while they laughed about it. Very poor...
Read moreThe concept of jungle themed bar sounds very cool but I would not recommend going here. There are many other cool bars in Berlin to spend your time. The bartender was very rude and made it seem that ordering a drink was the worst thing we could do. He had two friend at the bar who laughed alongside him when he handed us a drink we did not order, like it was a prank. We stayed to finish the drink we re-ordered then left. The group I was with all thanked the bartender on the way out, his friends giving us awful looks as we left. As we closed the door behind us we heard the bartender say “Yeah, close the door, I didn’t like you anyways.” And his friends laughed. The group I was with had been to the bar before and were shocked—they will not be going back. Not sure what we did besides order and pay for drinks to be met with such meanness. I guess go if you want to get bullied but not...
