Review of the vegetarian menu: Great selection with 6-7 mains to choose from. I had the bao burger with crispy battered tofu, vegetables and teriyaki dressing with sweet potato fries and spicy mayo on the side. The bao was full of flavour and the tofu had the perfect “crispy on the outside, soft on the inside”-texture, although the plain slice of tofu could have benefited from a subtle marinade. The bread was ok, but slightly dry. I think that the bao was filled up with too much lettuce and it would have been tastier with just the tofu, cucumber, dressing and a tiny bit of lettuce. My dish was a 3,5/5 in my opinion.
My company ordered udon noodles that came with a soy/ginger(?) dressing, lots of vegetables and great tofu with a slightly deep fried skin and a lovely soft inside. His dish this could almost have been a 5/5 if they would have added more tofu and selected the vegetables more carefully, instead of using every single vegetable in the kitchen.
The service was sadly not that great. I clearly ordered the tofu and the waiter repeated my order and still I was presented with chicken. Since it was battered I didn’t recognise this until I had a bite. Despite this unpleasant surprise the waiter explicitly asked for tips when we were about to pay. It also took time to get the bill although there were barely any...
Read moreEven though their menu has an allergen guide on the first page, please beware that this restaurant did not mark a certain dish as gluten free. I have Celiac. I ordered a dish that did not have a gluten warning. I took a bite of the noodles, and I thought something was off, because I started feeling ill. I asked whether the dish was really gluten free, and they said that it was not. I told them that the menu did not indicate that the dish contained gluten. The waiter apologized and offered another meal, but by that point I just needed to leave the restaurant to get home. I told them that they needed to be careful, because someone else like me could get really sick. They said that they'd mark the dish as "contains gluten." (I just have to trust them.)
The worst part is that they charged me for the dish. I understand that they put labor and materials into the meal, but they were not careful in their labeling and it made me sick.
If you have any food sensitivities or allergies, I would be very careful of this restaurant or avoid it all together. If you do have allergies or sensitivities, make sure you ask your server if the dish is free of the allergen. You can't trust the menu to...
Read moreIt was a challenge finding a restaurant to eat at, but the moment I walked into this one, I knew I was in for a treat. The ambience was inviting, right from the welcoming sign at the door. The attendant was exceptionally helpful, addressing all my questions.
The service was prompt, and I was soon presented with the Salmon Royal—a grilled salmon fillet atop a bed of colorful vegetables seasoned with dill, onions, ginger, and garlic, accompanied by a fried egg and caramelized sauce, all served with a side of colorful salad and jasmine rice. To drink, I chose the refreshing Lychee Schorle.
It was a moment of firsts for me: my first time in the restaurant, my first visit to Berlin, and my first taste of these dishes. Despite my initial nervousness, each bite was delicious, exuding a homely feeling as if carefully prepared with the best of intentions.
I’m truly grateful to have discovered this gem of a restaurant and for the server who delivered not just a meal, but an experience with a wonderful aura. I’m already looking forward to my next visit when I return...
