I was at Home Bar on Saturday, and towards the end of the night the bartenders started shouting quite rudely to announce the last round (around 1 a.m.). Shortly after, they started shouting again, basically kicking everyone out around as stray dogs.
Even as customers were calmly leaving, the same bartender came outside and shouted for a third time, telling people to move away from the front of the bar. It was honestly the rudest service I’ve experienced in Berlin. There was absolutely no need to yell, they could have simply spoken respectfully and informed people that it was closing time and if they could please not talk loud outdoors because of the neighbours.
The whole situation felt very unpleasant and uncomfortable, and I’ll definitely not be coming back. It’s unacceptable to be treated like that, especially when you’re paying quite a lot for drinks. Already could feel that they were the least friendly bartenders while ordering, but I was not expecting that it would get that bad.
First and last time, there are better bars around with better service as well. Not gonna pay for...

We stumbled across this lovely spot on a trip here in March 2022. Enjoyed drinks and warmth while we chatted to the owner Mike. We discussed how we were planning to move to Berlin and wanted to experience what the locals do. The owner then wrote a list of locally owned, English friendly spots for us to try all over the city, and all the suggestions were amazing. When we left that day, Mike said to us “pop by when you move”.
Under a year later we did just that. And Mike remembered us. And we caught up, raved about his list suggestions and toasted to our new life.
THESE are the kinds of bars you need in a city like this. The ones that welcome you with open arms, remember you and make you feel just a little less alone in this insane city.
So, in summary, GO TO HOME BAR. Speak to the team there. Order the drinks and soak up the wonderful heart that place has to offer.
Also, Make sure to check out the quiz on a Wednesday! Booking is essential!
(Note; for all the rugby fans, they are one of the very few bars in the city that...

[edit after receiving the reply from the owner] the problem with the bathroom stall that was addressed was not the major one; the bar is loud, expensive and uncomfortable if you are in a big group. the sign on the bar said one should inquire about alcohol free craft beers, however, the bartender couldn't say much about them. slightly unprofessional and quite unwelcoming place. it's not the worst place ever, however, i wouldn't recommend it to a friend.
[edit 2] honestly, the fact that you can’t take constructive criticism says more than a thousand one star reviews… i see how friendly and local you are, especially not speaking German. i don’t care, however, I've noted the inclusion of personal names in your public response. Under GDPR regulations, individuals have the right to request the removal of their personal data from public records to protect their privacy. I kindly ask that you remove the names from your response to respect our privacy rights and remain compliant with GDPR provisions, as names are considered...
