A friend and I dined here, enticed by the prospect of Chinese cuisine. Unfortunately, our experience was far from the delightful journey we had anticipated.
To begin with, the dishes seemed to lack any authentic touch. It felt as though random ingredients were haphazardly thrown together, drenched in a nondescript sauce that was neither rich nor flavorful. The so-called 'specialty' dumplings were a major letdown – as dry as the Sahara and devoid of any genuine taste.
The Peking Duck, a dish I usually adore, was an utter disappointment. It was parched to the point of being unpalatable, stripping away all the joy of what should have been a succulent and flavorful experience.
But the worst was yet to come. Both my friend and I ended up with food poisoning, a clear testament to the questionable quality of the food served at Jolly. It's not just about the disappointing flavors; it's a matter of health and safety, which seems to be grossly overlooked here.
I've dined at many Chinese restaurants, but this was by far the most regrettable experience. To anyone considering a visit to Jolly, I'd strongly suggest you go to Ming Dynastie. Far better quality at a fraction...
Read moreI went here again and again every time I visited Berlin. It is a must to have a meal time here for me, why?
They have delicious dim sum, each portion contains 4 pieces. The dim sum has rather thick skin but the taste so intense and appetizing. As dim sum lover, we know directly that they prepare it with love. The price of a portion dim sum is about 5 Euro, which make it insanely affordable. They have best series of duck menu. As far as I experienced, this is the best place in Germany where you can enjoy the duck in east asian style. They have true gem collection of tea! They offer very delicate and authentic tea like in the original country. They work with passion and love. The waiters are very welcoming and ready for pleasing the order from customers. Their location is in near by the museum insel, but with the price like normal restaurant, it is very hard to believe. But it is true, they serve us with high standard food with extremely affordable price.
I just can't stop admiring this restaurant since I was first time visiting this place...
Read moreFood here was great, service let them down. We arrived in and were left stood at the door for a period of time. Finally they greeted us and brought us to our seats. We were then left there for about 10 minutes without a menu, without water for the table and without being able to order a drink. When we trued to get the attention of a staff member he at first dismissed us as if to say he was busy but then realised his mistake. Service improved after this.
Food however was all great, we got a mix of dim sum such as soup dumpling, prawn and meat. We also got some duck pancakes, gyozas and prawn tempura. All Excellent. For mains then we shared sweet and sour, beef szechuan, beef black pepper. It was all great. The beef szechuan probably could have been thickened a little but the flavour was all there!
We had plenty leftover which they packaged up nicely and allowed us to take home.
Will definitely be back. Shame about the...
