Pretty impressive museum just off the Museum Insel. It usually has interesting exhibitions on aspects of German History not covered by the Topographie des Terrors or the DDR museum. More thematic in style it caters to those who prefer exploration of ideas. The exhibition space is large, airy and yet quite intimate. A definite plus is the cafe. Really lovely space and comfy chairs to swallow you up. More cake than you can reasonably contemplate in a week of visits. It's an ideal place to visit if you want to escape the crowds at Alexanderplatz. The Cinema next door is also well work...

This is actually my favourite museum in Berlin! If you're into history this is a MUST. Everything you need to know about Germany is here. Go with an open mind in order to confront yourself with some serious history facts. The permanent exhibition is very well done and they always have very interesting changing exhibitions. Great option for rainy days. This museum is barely ever very crowed. The more contemporary part off the back is a master piece of architecture. Don't forget to go up the state-of-art...
