Beautiful building! Didn’t expect to find it here, in Berlin, some connection to the city of Nizhni Novgorod and to the person, Maxim Gorki that was influential in the early soviet era and the 20 century beginning where many famous Russians were popular in Europe like Stravinsky and others. The building has been made in a classical style and location is hidden from the main tourist routes.

Very interesting! They had a really cool display outside regarding the Armenian genocide, which got me to pause - it was excellent. Then I noticed a sign on the door indicating a play with free admission and English subtitles. I checked it out, and wanted to like it, but after more than 30 minutes it was just too weird for a simple guy like me to appreciate.

It’s looks super cool and traditional inside and outside. The red chairs are comfy and look marvelous. Before the show, you can give your jacket to the coat rack and enjoy a drink at the bar. The view from the medium expensive seats is good, nothing to complain.

Gorki Theater is a well-known theatre in the heart of Berlin, Germany. Founded in 1952, it is one of the city's oldest and most prestigious theatres and has become a cultural institution in its own right. Named after the Russian playwright Maxim Gorky, the Gorki Theater has a long history of producing innovative and provocative plays that challenge conventional ideas and push the art form's boundaries. The theatre's repertoire includes classic works by writers such as Chekhov and Brecht and contemporary plays by up-and-coming playwrights. One of the unique features of the Gorki Theater is its commitment to diversity and inclusion. The theatre strongly focuses on promoting diversity on and off stage. It is recognized for its efforts to promote gender equality and provide opportunities for marginalized groups. The Gorki Theater has gained attention in recent years for its innovative productions and collaborations with other theatre companies and artists worldwide. In 2018, the theatre hosted a "Europa Europa" festival, which brought together artists from across Europe to explore themes of identity, migration, and belonging. The theatre's commitment to pushing boundaries and exploring new forms of expression has also led to several experimental productions, including immersive theatre experiences and site-specific performances outside traditional theatre spaces. Despite its reputation as an innovative and forward-thinking theatre, the Gorki Theater remains firmly rooted in the rich cultural traditions of Berlin and Germany. Its productions often draw on local history and culture, and the theatre's location in the city centre makes it a hub for cultural events and activities. The Gorki Theater is a unique and vital institution in the Berlin cultural scene. Its commitment to diversity and inclusion and its innovative productions and collaborations make it an exciting destination for theatre-goers worldwide. Please Like Mike! We had a great experience here! The play was interesting, fun, disturbing, beautiful and intelligent all at the same time! The English supertitles (at both sides) were good and really useful. Sometimes, a few sentences weren't translated, but that did not matter for the big story. We use our student discount to get seatings on row 4 of the balcony for 8 euro's, where the view was pretty good. And since the rows in front were empty we were allowed to get better seatings, which was also nice. So if you cannot get a student discount, and you see that on the back there is enough room, you can try to get tickets for 10 euro on the last row and hope you can get a better place when there are empty seats. (But row 5 isn't that bad either.) The legspace on the other hand was quite small on the balcony (I don't know how it was on the main floor), but if you are not to tall like me, you won't find it very inconvenient. It is however quite hot inside (outside it was like 18 degrees) so it is advisable to wear not to...
